The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

The original intent (prior to 47 taking over) was that the NGAS (now F-47) was to be available to at least the 5Eye folks. We have obviously jumped the shark between that intent and now - but interesting to see that option may be opening again -- it is quite frankly the only way to afford...

    Iran Super Thread- Merged

Lebanon had issues before Hezbollah. Keep in mind the Sunni/Shia divide. The Palestinians getting kicked out of Jordan was a key destabilization issue of Lebanon (Black September). Hezbollah is a relatively new add to the issues in Lebanon, only becoming a thing after the 1979 Iranian...

    Iran Super Thread- Merged

Offensive War of Choice is an interesting choice of words. Your most recent reply is at least a little different from the previous. As to me at least, the one I quoted above seemed to suggest that you didn’t consider Israel a democracy liberal democracy. Yes they have a number of...

    Iran Super Thread- Merged

What planet are you from? 1) Regardless of what you think, it meets the term of a liberal democratic government. At least for now. 2) Have you paid attention to history, and how its neighbors have acted? You may notice that countries who have concluded hostilities and formed...

    Political impacts of Ukraine war

I’m inclined to believe that most will let even direct family go at this point.

    Political impacts of Ukraine war

Oh there’s a lot of tiers of the New White Russians, many of those tiers are more expendable than him.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Most of those are domestically producing those on existing lines. The key aspect is why setup an entirely line for a Gen 4 fighter? I’d be asking the same if Boeing all of a sudden offered to build F-18’s in Canada (albiet that would make a big more sense) Anyone wonder why Saab limps...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Hey based on the Iran deal, you could be so lucky we’d try to annex you. You’d end up owning Alaska and getting 200 F-35 for free.

I’m more suspicious about supporting a Lebanese Mountain Warfare School.

Honestly that to me is where Canada can really go hard on. It’s an area that is you going to have demand explode, and has room for ironing out kinks along the way due to being uncrewed.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

The SK’a have tried to copy the F-22 there. Not honestly a bad idea, it’s still generations above what anything else can do in the air. Low radar profile, crazy maneuvering. Just needs updated radar and sensors. I’m just unsure if they can get it done.

If I was the rest of the G7, I’d be having an after meeting to come up a consensus on what to do when it all goes to hell.

Well I wish you luck, I think there are much better horses in Europe for Canada to bet on.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

If Canada had Gripens already, I would not be the negative nelly that I am on it. But let’s be honest it is a near orphan aircraft, (and while we know the RCAF tends to love get stuck with orphans) it really isn’t a good option. @Good2Golf You must see a lot more in Saab than I do, frankly...

Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

Watervliet Arsenal is a hundred year old brick building. I was very disappointed when viewing it how old things where, and this was after the Army had spend millions of dollars on the facility. Frankly I am not sure of one could get a machine into the various buildings at this point to...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

You also (and several others here) tend to gloss over issues that have been brought up here repeatedly. 1) Creating a Gen4 Manufacturing facility in Canada isn’t going to be economically viable. 2) Saab has no Gen 5 Experience and at this point is an aimless orphan sitting around in the Gen...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

No first world nation is setting up a program to buy or build 4rg Fighters. That is the point. You enjoy ignoring context don’t you. You probably are that shortsighted you think that would be a win for Canada.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Okay everyone gets it you hate America and Trump. But doing any Gripen stuff is throwing good money after bad. It’s a Gen 4 fighter. The only market for that are fools and suckers. Canada has a lot of IRB’s on F-35, all you are doing is giving reasons to pull every single US Defense...
