Potentially, but the bodies of a lot of Canadians or Dual Citizen Canadians getting ripped apart in the streets also doesn’t send a good message.
I think it would depend on where and who was affected.
The CAF ended up in FYR with the UN’s rather nebulous tasks due to Milla Mulroney being...

Hypervelocity Improved Capability Assault Rifle (HICAR)
Amendmendent 0001
This amendent is issued to extend the deadline for solution brief (also known as white paper submission)...
Yeah, I just wish they would redesign the body housing to be a stand alone from the get go.
The M320 (and M320A1) suffers the same issue with the add on standalone is that it really isn’t the most ergonomic setup. Going back in time the Hk69 (and M79) have much better ergonomics for actually...
Keep in mind the entire Stryker Bde concept came out of Somalia and ‘too light to fight’ mentality that the Light Divisions where viewed at.
The original Stryker was C-130 deployable, the Stryker 2.0 like the LAV 6 family is not.
Extra extra ration of Helicopters.
Non SOF birds down here aren’t setup for AAR, so there are limits to self deployment. Plus crew rest and maintenance issues.
@Good2Golf can tell stories about 160th folks not being too thrilled about self deployment’s over long distances.
Sending...
I’m also of the opinion that Canada needs a stand alone JFE capability.
Mainly as recent events have shown that there may be times where Canada needs to conduct NEO/PR in a non permissive environment, that allies don’t have the same skin in the game.
I’ve seen rigorous standards applied in some unexpected units, and pathetic results from RegF Infantry units.
Electronic scoring on instrumented ranges takes a lot of the fudge factor out of it, especially when a separate entity if controlling them and the results.
Some units actually...
We’ve ‘argued’ this before, but I believe one needs to give up the idea of moving heavy equipment by air. Having ocean going RORO’s available for the CA is much more valuable to move Tanks etc. Your point about Ocean Ferries later is well stated.
But @Cloud Cover pointed out a major key...
Mounting a GL on the rifle/carbine is useless.
1) You get a 5lb weight added all the time, for a small amount of actual usage.
2) The GL (and it doesn’t matter what type) makes holding the weapon for any decent shooting very awkward (even worse with the M203A1 Colt Canada mount).
3) In...
I would agree for all but Air Assault Divisions.
Canada doesn’t have one of those -- so you get a pass ;)
Entirely agree - and if everyone remembers my Napkin doodling, the CA had a Corps...
Bingo
The Corps can be static in Canada for peacetime.
It can also deal with multiple types of Divisions (Heavy, Med, Light) and juggle all the Corps enablers that are needed.
Honestly the Elbit turret isn’t nearly as big or heavy as the original ASCOD turret - so I don’t think there will be significant issues with mobility/handling.
I’m not thrilled with non penetrating turrets on IFV’s though - as weapon manipulations need to be done by exposed crew members.
As...
IF Kharg Island is actually an objective that is a massive blunder of epic proportions.
You can say you will bomb, invade etc -- but if you give both a timeframe and a specific objective that is just letting the enemy plan a defense to maximize impact against us.
The Strategic Science Suppressors are pretty neat. They setup business in Canada as well for this program, with a very solid Small Arms User SME involved (not sure of Frank's Paquette’s title there), Frank had tried to pull the rest of the CAF into the 21st Century for weapons training, he was...
