You are welcome. I missed the second part of your question though... the how.
Essentially you need to get selected for AEC and then request AWC, as opposed to ATV IFR or ATC VFR. Most people get their choice of AEC stream (98%+) but it will also be based on needs of the service. Upon successful...
Fact... only about 20% of AECs had it as a first choice when they joined the CF. A sizeable percentage of those who are AECs joined as pilots and failed prior to wing standards (Air Crew Selection, BFT, etc).

The air factor identifies the functional relationships in respect of aircrew and passengers and is graded from 1 to 7...
There is no backlog. From the time you leave BMOQ until you qualify as a liscenced controller you will almost alwatys be actively enaged in formal training. See the first post in this thread or review this attachment.

Well, if you are declaring that to be the case, then likely you are also misinformed. Typically NAVCAN trainees off the street, at least within Montreal FIR, must take both Basic and Generic training. On the other hand most experienced military ATC just challenge the Generic exam (includes two...
You were told by a recruiter that the training for civil and military ATC was the same? Obviously a statement borne of ignorance given the simple reality that the only thing the same is the the MANOPS we uses as a common bible. Saying the training is the same is like saying Judaism and...
NAVCAN is still conducting VFR training at NCTI; however, this is too is being regionalised once they have finalised the aquisition of new simulators. The operational training staff (GTs) have already received their "lay-off" notices. The military still conducts all its VFR and IFR training at...
There is no civialian equivalent to Air Weapons Control. So, yes you would need to retrain. Mind you many ATC personnel that leave for NAVCAN find they require additional training as well. There is just enough difference between military ATC and Civil ATC that some additional training or...
As far as I know this is the exisiting policy:

The school developed posters as handouts when they go to community events as well a recruiting venues like college job fairs. The links below are low res smaller versions of the actual posters. Currently they are only available through the DIN links provided. I'll see about uploading them to the...
Reverting, if that is your case, is not uncommon. Neither is relinquishing a commision, but that is not something that should be done lightly. The PSO should have explained the details.
If you are being pressured to make a decision I would ask for the policy that forces a time constraint on...
I know several AC Ops that returned to being AC Ops when the transition to AEC did not work out for them. I can only remember one ab initio AEC that ended up as an AC Op and that was several years ago. Typically those recruited directly to AEC seek other officer occupations when they fail AEC.
Seeing as only about 50 of the 86 positions required to meet current fiscal year intake requirements have been achieved there should be no problems with anyone getting an offer for AEC so long as all other requirement for entry into the occupation were met. There are valid reasons why...
