I know this isn’t particularly relevant, but I find the RIVER to be the prettiest of the three. The mast looks the least like an afterthought appendage…
I guess I was just thinking about range as well. The Phalanx is effective at relatively close range, but I was thinking maybe further out. Is there any kind of air burst munitions for the 57 that would be even more effective?
Since we learned that RAM would be part of the CSC program, moving forward, I was wondering if there would be any sense in trying to find room for some version on a HALIFAX? With the emergence of these types of drone threats that we’re seeing in contested waters already, the missile load out on...
I barely noticed them, though to be fair I was trying to outrun the MP’s to Treats for the good folks in NDRLS. The selection was a little slim after the Meatheads descended…
I find myself wondering about speed and range with the Hunter Class. Surely both specs will be lower than River or T26 given same propulsion, more weight, broader beam but not a proportional lengthening of the hull?
Makes me wonder if someone at VARD thinks/heard/hopes that the CSC program doesn’t go the distance and gets capped at a much lower number of units. Maybe they’re positioning Flight II as a sort of “Type 31-esque” solution, should that situation come to pass. I’m sure they’d push the lower...
Was just on it last week and it remains an absolute marvel. Though, the Flagler railway bridge that was the original land link through the Keys (of which a tiny, terrifying remnant can be explored) seems to me to be an even more impressive structure, given the time it took to build it.
As an...
What about naming them after the provinces and territories? That covers 13 and then the last two could be HMCS TURKS and HMCS CAICOS, just for a little optimistic manifest destiny?
I see where they mention a stern ramp, but the design doesn’t seem to be that? I was picturing the same sort of design you see on a USCG cutter, but maybe that’s not the only one out there?
I’m there fairly often and I love to see it. It, along with the semi recent addition of IRO bow, draws a lot of interest from people who see them. I’d like to think they give people a little more incentive to learn more about the military.
Actually, I wrote that incorrectly. What I should have said was 6 ExLS for 24 CAMM (quad packed) though, those launchers can be used for several other types of weapon too, I believe.
I keep seeing where 32 cell VLS is being referenced with regards to CSC in this thread. Unless something has changed, I believe the count is 24 plus the 24 ExLs for CAMM. That’s what I understand to be the first flight, anyway. Even CRCN has stated several times that this is not enough cells for...
Curious if that’s been the case with USNS and RFA ships. Just a Quick Look at the crew split on a USNS L&C vessel shows apx 125 civilian and then 11 USN members and the ship is somewhat armed (albeit only lightly and defensively). Is it the weaponry or comms or something else entirely that would...
