Has anyone seen a recording of Trump actually saying 'semiquincentennial'?

    Pipelines, energy and natural resources

Over a mountain range or two, under the strait, over another mountain range, only to be confronted by hippies throwing homemade soap at you. I imagine the sea state on the west coast of the Island would demand a large, sheltered, deep water harbour.

    Pipelines, energy and natural resources

At least 'our side' has a little bit more clarity. The treaties (where they exist) are with the Crown, and the Crown is represented by either the federal government or a province according to the Charter (I don't think municipalities have devolved authority but I doubt it has been tested)...

    Pipelines, energy and natural resources

One problem is clarifying who the government's 'duty to consult' is with or, in other words, who speaks for the First Nations? Logic would dicate that it is the heirs of the people who signed the treaties; the chiefs of the various bands involved. This further complicated in those areas where...

    Jetson One

The way I read it, it can lose one motor and it has eight, so 1/8.

    Trump administration 2024-2028

Stages falling apart; pond scum and peeling paint. Why do I get the sense Trump is just the Grifter-in-Chief enabling other grifters. What's next, the plaster or stucco on the new ballroom will be papier mache? I'm more and more reminded of the Simpson's monorail episode.

    FNC1 - Years In Service

And range officers have been known to 'crank it up' when they handed you the weapon to see if you properly prepped it for fire. I never minded the recoil. I have no clue which one the OPP had - I'll guess Normal, because they were issued to detachments, not members. Part of our range routine...

    FNC1 - Years In Service

The vast majority only got a few mag's worth once a year at training. They were in nice shape. Major pucker factor advantage when you are standing a roadblock; much better than the shotgun.

    Happy Canada Day 2025

We had a really exciting Canada Day. Big storm last night pulled down a couple of trees. Power went out at 1900 last night, is still off and not scheduled to come back until 2300 tomorrow. Spend the day cleaning up the property in 35+* heat. Yay. Happy Canada Day!

RCMP Charges CAF Members For Trying to Start Anti- Government Group- July 08/ 2025

Under 606(1.1)(c) CC, it is incumbent on a court accepting a guilty plea to satisfy itself that "the facts support the charge". An agreed statement of fact is the easiest way to ensure that the facts are entered into the record. In lesser matters, it is usually sufficient for the Crown Brief...

Muslim Call to Prayer in Regina (split from Liberal Gov't 2025 - ???)

My point was not to defend or attack the broadcast; my point was to remind people of the standard any law, at whatever level, would be measured against. A mosque, or any individual, cannot offend my Charter rights, and I can't offend their.

    Trump administration 2024-2028

He's already said the only reason he signed a bad CUSMA deal because it was better than NAFTA, which was worser because it was signed by a Democrat.

Muslim Call to Prayer in Regina (split from Liberal Gov't 2025 - ???)

The Charter binds the Crown (feds, provinces and, by extension, municipalities). It does not bind private organizations or individuals. A mosque can't breach your Charter rights. If a law exists or is enacted that says a certain activity, like loud sounds, is illegal because it interferes...

    Alberta government thread

I'll give her credit for changing direction rather than digging in like a tic like some politicians do. Although I don't like him, that one thing in Ontario's Doug Ford's favour. The fact that it was a bad decision that only got addressed when the government was called out on it suggests a...

    Trump administration 2024-2028

So Carolina didn't 'really' win the Stanley Cup? I'm sure if you are ever the appellant in a matter, you will temper your win if it is a split decision. He may bitch and moan - more likely quietly move on to the next shiny thing - but I don't think he has actively moved against a court ruling...
