Canada is an odd collection of religious legislation that's internally contradictory. We fund separate schools for a religious group we then by law exclude from the monarchy. One province prohibits public displays of religion while spending millions to maintain old religious buildings.

Yeah - I was approaching it from the "Didn't know it was an IPP's residence" perspective. My assumption would be (in many cases) that the employer of the shooter would not necessarily give them that level of detail - OPSEC is a thing.
