Hopefully the findings will make their way into the Training Safety manuals and other publications related to the use of this weapon soon if not already covered.
There was a BOI conducted. The technical findings will be contained therein. Does anyone have information on when or if it will be released?
Indeed, the ball bearings don't go backwards. That would indicate a systemic manufacturing error which would have been seen more than once.
The only 2...
Exactly. Had a deadline not been set, they both, Lib and NDP would be berating the Gov about it - and let me add, the same scenario would be played regardless of who is in power - that's politics
Perhaps I misread your comment but I think Rae was actually saying that he did not like that the Gov set a deadline (this time) and suggested that the C-17 should be kept running as long as required.
just a note, the Tuareg ppl are spread across the Sahara, not just Libya. Their struggle with the southern gov in Bamako goes back years and has been, until recently and except from Libyan support, mostly an internal issue (but Qaddafi saw this as an opportunity to expand his influence southward...
A fourth party in the conflict makes their resurgence.
Wonder what will France do?
Are they really independent of or opposed to the Islamists or is this a ploy for AQ to hide among the Tuareg? is that possible?
Here, from AP via Yahoo News...
I was just going to say that.
Moreover, many of his assertions on numbers, while mathematically correct, are statistically biased; like the percentage of women killed in combat - how many of the woman he lumps in the sample were actually in combat units?
Errors like that make the article...
Soldierup, what unit are you in? don't want to put you on the spot but I might be able to tell you who to talk to - if you are in Ottawa, talk to me - I don't care where you end up going as long as you are happy with it and you are a productive member of your unit and contribute to the reserve...

cheers,
Frank
Transferring is not impossible - it has happened - but it is pretty rare. The key is that you have to perform well and get a recommendation from you Commanding Officer (CO) but COs don't like loosing a star young officer or recommending (putting their name behind) someone that is not a good...

It's going to take a lot more...
Done. I think it is mostly a personal thing with ppl from or associated with our unit - but it is impacting my guys so a close look at this has been requested...
Funny you mention these courses. We all know that Engineers are regularly loaded in these courses but some numty "inspiring" staff O at my BG HQ (PRes) refuses to load my guys on any, saying they are only for Inf. (most recently UOI, mountain ops and basic para)
Well, not just of engineer interest...
Things like sources of water and other resources also figure in there but also other things of importance to the tactical commander: where can fr and en forces manoeuvre, where should we put our obstacles for greater effect, etc.
These are considered all...
