83 years ago we were hunting german subs, now we are buying them. We are full circle, question remains can they deliver. Id also have concerns about access to spare parts. Germanys own sub fleet was dry docked for a long time because they couldn't get parts. Our own leopard fleet in suffering...
listening to the announcement, interesting that the PM emphasized, and called out that if negotiations dont go the way Canada want's, we reserve the right to turn around and go to the koreans instead. Keeping the door open that the TKMS team cant mess around.
One thing I hope for, if it is germany, with doubt about timeline, I hope the contract has a penalty for delay clause. Hit them with significant penalties for each month of a delay
deliberately leak the wrong thing to see who might leak it? I mean Brian lilly says a source told him it will be a mixed fleet. Maybe we have a case of multiple people told different things. See what leaks out to find your leaker
Timeline wise they are the worse choice, and will only make the deadline by bumping other nations out of their spots. Im no expert but seems to me the german design has more technological risk of delay that the first boat likely wont arrive on time vs the koreans.
Having top of the line modern subs will help just in public image alone to recruit, but like all branches. Much will need to be done to get people ready for first delivery

Everyone regardless of party should be held accountable for deliberately lying to the public. But they should be given their time in court to defend them selves as well. In the case of the number you cite, it needs to be determined who knew what because there is a difference between knowingly...
And thats where we have things like the AG, PBO? And elections. Now if you want legal consequences then I suggest that ethics rules in parliment need actual teeth such as fines and sanctions
Guard rails are needed for sure, but my statement still stands, government or not if you deliberately lie with the intention of harming the public, or public interest. You should be held accountable in a court of law.
Well we already have laws for slander etc, problem is most people online cant be held accountable because of anonymity of online accounts. I personally agree we should be able to hold people accountable if they are spreading false information as fact. The question is how we do it and to what degree
Exactly, we are getting LNG exports, a 1 million barrel per day pipeline for export to asia. This is all win win as the biggest O&G investment in a long time.
