Oak Island has been a topic of family discussion since I was a child (early '60s at least). My Dad is from Nova Scotia and it was a topic of discussion in his family even before that. To say it is a lasting mystery is an understatement. I visited Oak Island in the mid-'70s and if nothing else...
We did a Northern Viking (?) sovereignty exercise in Arviat in 1988, and since the C7s were not considered adequate defense against a polar bear each of our patrols had Rangers with .303s. Good thing we never considered going to war against the polar bears . . .
Not wanting to violate any OPSEC issues at all, but I'm wondering how the use and integration of the Chinooks is coming. Is 450 Sqn still doing acceptance and training or are the Chinooks being used by the brigades? Are they being used for troop movement or logistics? I'm just thinking back to...
Watching our Prime Minister respond to the events in Paris last night I was struck that I was seeing more Maggie than Pierre. I appreciate he was responding with scant information and correctly was not making policy decisions based on initial reports, but even so he seemed unable to keep a...
I think Mr. (LCol) Sajjan has clearly shown his commitment to his adopted country, more so than many who were born here. I have only met him once in passing but mutual acquaintances speak very highly of him. I wish him the best of luck in his new portfolio.
I did my duty as well. 5 minutes from entering the hall till done. I made a point of thanking all the folks working there. I'm not sure if they are paid or volunteers but it was well run and slick (of course it helped I was the only one voting at the timeĀ :salute:

Or this is a great PR move on Sony's part. Now everybody is discussing what was was probably a pretty mundane movie. How many people will buy the DVD just to see what all the fuss was about or to show they "won't be pushed around by North Korea"?
I would think that rather than going after her for issues of detail (which were not of her doing) and criticizing any possible "career embellishment" (which I suspect many of us have done either in the bar or around the campfire), we acknowledge that fact that she SERVED at all, and celebrate...
The motto of The Royal Canadian Regiment, of which I am not a member but have profound respect, is "Never pass a fault". Hard to implement sometimes but if military life was easy we wouldn't need leaders to lead. I suspect her faults were passed often.
Having worked in a Regimental museum for several years I started to gain a sense of how long memories last. We would often get medal sets, pictures, shadow boxes, etc, brought in to the museum by grandchildren and great grandchildren of veterans who simply had no memories of the individual and...
