I dunno, I kinda think it's on the gruyere side of cheese. Maybe if it said 'Dodging American projectiles since 1812' or something.

If you're anxious now, just imagine what it would be like having signed on the dotted line having not told the whole truth. Just saying.

But only if he does it in a drunken stupor.

Will they come with real live british sappers to break them too? Wrong nomenclature methinks.

Just curious, why would you buy one?

If that post was written in crayon on purple bristol board with 'Hello Kitty' stickers, it would have looked absolutely perfect.

 Thanks. Been a while since I've seen an FMR.

I get '10 o'clock soup' (as unappealling as soup would be at that time in the morning), but what on earth is BMS? Before Matron Sees? Biscuits Minus Sugar? Bottomless Mint Sauce? Bison Meat Sausages? Bacon Mitt Schnitzel (holdover from the germany days?) Thanks in advance...

Wot he said. Let me put it to you simply. On my last summer tour of the sandpit, the majority of guys I saw stretchered off the battlefield due to dehydration/heat exhaustion were also fanatically weightlifting/using supplements in their down time. The ones who kept on trucking in the 60 degree...

So let me get this straight. You are applying to get paid to get a university degree (also paid for) at one of the top education institutions in the country, and afterwards potentially lead up to 30 soldiers in combat, yet you go to an anonymous, unofficial website to have some random bloke...

Just leave your kit alone until you are taught how to maintain it/use it/break it. P.S. It's ARID, not Arade. Prairie Thunder beat me to it.

My goodness, this tops every ridiculous thing I've seen come out of the post-Afghan army. Stick with 'defeat the enemy, keep the troops busy'.

My thoughts are that it was completely right to chew the member out for wearing BEW's on vacation. Do you wear your dogtags all the time in case you are rendered unrecognisable by some catastrophic accident? Do you wear your issued SOG/Gerber on a DEU belt with your jeans, just in case?

You might just have missed anyone getting caught for them. The way it was explained to me once upon a time is that as part of the routine CDT, a percentage of a unit is tested. Out of those test samples, a smaller test group is then sent forward to the lab for testing for class A drugs. Of...

Why should it need to be? What is broke that needs fixing? The reason I ask is I spent 11 1/2 years in two commonwealth armies, the majority of that time as a 2IC, and not once was I unsure of what my roles were in garrison or in the field. I just don't see the need for some sort of bible of...

Umm... yeah they were, at least as of 2007.

For a position that is so widely varied from unit to unit as to the duties and responsibilities in a garrison setting, why wouldn't a Part I PDR suffice? What do you think should be in place in stead?

There are formal 'Terms of Reference' for each position and trade, beyond the combat role - it's called PDR Part I. It spells out what is expected of you. Is it completely different for each trade and unit? Absolutely. Surely you've signed one before? If we made a cookie-cutter 2IC job...

I'd rather people learn after hundreds of years of development of the laws of war, and having it drilled into you from day 1, that we don't summarily execute the bad guys. Idiotic, dangerous and reprehensible move on their part.

You're not even in yet. Discussion closed.
