I saw that same mistake right after the parade, but as I was standing with some of the families of the fallen, found it in bad taste to rip apart their nice memento. But as I've worked with 3 of the 4 dudes in that picture who were carrying another member of the same unit, I was incensed. JJT...

Why should they get Spec1? If it's to compete with civvy street wages, then sure, but if it's for the technical complexity of the job, then I don't think so. I'm saying this as a civvy firefighter, it's not a rocket science job by any means. As a Combat Engineer Sergeant, I found myself...

Basically...the war is over. Time for real soldiering.  ::)

Mods - Feel free to move this to an 'Afghan Memoirs' sticky if so desired.. Found this last night, thought it was worth sharing.... Shared in accordance with the Fair Dealings Act.. and so on..... http://www.westronwynde.com/wwn09/n9macinnisa/ Punching the Clock           from A Small...

Did he have to retake his PWT3 at least?

You're right, it was an over-simplification and painted sone good people with the moron brush. That being said, there was a lot of dross that f'd up in the unit somehow, then found themselves promoted and posted to the school. Never to return to the field army....

Absolutely agree with JM, I saw nothing but the true crud of my rank generation sent to the schools, I mean people who were known, throughout the corps, as borderline imbeciles.

Parade participation will max out at 20% GCS/OSM medal holders and the remainder b****ing about how they have to work on a Saturday.

Ah yes, that age-old dilemma.. what to pack for the big move to the field army.... 'Helmet??? or Playstation??' Think of what could possibly be the worst day one you could have, example Bn PT followed by a DEU inspection, and deploy to the field for 2 weeks after lunch. Whilst perhaps not...

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=plebeian Also, Sprog, FNG, that d***head who showed up for Bn PT on his first day in BMQ issue PT kit.

For the love of goad do not, I repeat, do not turn up for Pl/Coy/Bn PT on day 1 wearing whatever atrocity they issued you in basic. Take the time now and buy some cheap black/navy blue shorts, and ask very nicely of your roommate if he will lend you a Bn PT strip for day one. Nothing will mark...

Meh, Mabey-Johnson/Acrow/LSB 200.....It's not bridging unless you are doing the mean green bridge balancing act along the top panels of just landed, un-decked, DS MGB, 50' above roaring rapids, at night, praying to whatever higher being that he/she guides your foot steps onto the 18'' of foot...

And in 11 years and 2 armies, the 'jammiest' go I ever got was 2 weeks in Cyprus, in January, doing a 1:1200 survey of a sewage plant.... Yep, if I could do it all over again, green card and Uncle Sam's Misguided Children.

Ahem...what what? Correct, was a knocker, now with a large urban fire service in a city of 3 rivers (well 2 and a big canal). I'll add that being a combat engineer is definitely good prep for any of the emergency services, particularly cops or fire. That said, by being a combat engineer I mean...

Another example of how C.F. news is just a modern Pravda

As some of the above have stated.....at your level, do not even bother with any of that crap, save it for your camping weekends on your own time. A switched on SQ/CQ can order/LPO 90% of the Gucci kit you need, and anyways right now you do not know what you need anyways. Here's a summary of...

Just curious...but in what way was the 'crown' involved in this transaction? Your claim would be against the person who asked for the flag.

 G-Wagon crew commanders? Sounds like someone is just finding a reason to say no to you. I have never heard of this requirement.

Indeed... as an example, I recall seeing one of our particular problem children (chronic absenteeism, drugs/alcohol offences), receiving a large envelope from VAC just before he released. In summary, he tried to claim his personality disorder was brought about by his 3 years service with nil...
