I haven't tried the CSOR route, but I have volunteered for HUMINT operator on several occasions and my unit will not release me to go do the course in Borden or Kingston wherever it is. Maybe I'll try again.
I've been in the navy for 10 years now. Right out of high school. Thought I would see the world and shit like that. But my career has been pretty mundane as fate would hand me.
I have a pretty important job on the ship, possibly one of the most important for an NCM to have. I am a Fire Control...
man we need all the bodies we can get in the navy, were so short were tying up boats for extended periods then putting the bodies on other ships. I'd take bosun out of those three trades as navcomm might not exist in the next 5 years, and all nciops i want to know want to kill themselves...
I am going to be exclusively at KAF. I only get four weeks predeployment trg, and I have been talking to someone there and she says we never leave the base, so this is purely for KAF.
i noticed you put masterbation high on your list. haha, right under movies, there can't be that many interesting movies to watch in kandahar. not even the bollywood crap that makes its way over from india
Is the internet viable enough to stream webcam video, even may I ask an online game or two? I'll have to pack alot of bootbands I think cause whenever I wear the army stuff, I tend to lose them like nobodies business. Do they have pingpong at canada house, i'd be in heaven if they did...
I know there are no days off in a warzone, and you probably work 12-16 hrs days sometimes. But I am sure there are always moments that you have to your self in KAF, Camp Mirage or in a FOB somewhere. I'll be going in late fall and from what I hear about my job from someone over there is its...
i wonder if they're going to phase out the SWASM eventually. From a naval standpoint our operations aren't so much focussed on the Gulf anymore and more towards Africa, which sure isn't SW Asia.
Also there is a new medal coming down the pipe to replace the SSM, or at least augment it. Thats...
I know that this is a bit late, as I was reading this on Page 2 of this topic but someone mentioned the pyschological impact of a shotgun being racked and I can give two examples from real life. We were boarding a suspect vessel in the gulf in 2002, and the crew was being belligerant. A few of...
No medal envy, just happy to be doing a non-naval deployment. My unit tasker knew how bad I wanted this, that she convinced another person who already had this position to take a different position that was more suited to their skills.
When I look for the NATO article 5 on that website, the only missions it talks about are sailing with STAN NATO fleet and air operations it doesn't mention anything about afghanistan.
Nato certificate of appreciation! sounds interesting. how come were the only nation that doesn't get the NATO arc 5. Is it because we have our own medal and the other nations don't. Or do these other nations get their own national medals plus the nato medal
As a STIR tech, I believe I will be recieving the surface to air missiles in the equipment redistributing. So that would be ESSM and VLS correct. Hopefully I get loaded on that VLS course that sends me to California for 3 weeks.
You know whats funny about that NATO article 5 medal. The HMCS Ville De Quebec recieve both the NATO AR5 and the SWASM for the same deployment just last fall to Somalia. But I think it was a two part mission because, 1. they were sailing with a NATO fleet, 2. They were in SW asia (sort of). My...
I'll be deploying to Afghanistan on Roto 9 next year and I have a few questions. Would I be awarded the SWASM or the GCS. I'm a little confused cause I know people that have gotten either medal. The GCS is awarded to people working directly for ISAF, does everyone that is deployed to KAF work...
Hello,
I'm the navy if you haven't guessed and I have been chosen to deploy to KAF for roto 9 as flight line security. The training is relatively short 3 or 4 weeks my unit tasker says. Do any of you airforce types work at Winnipeg and are involved with the training, can you give me an idea...
thanks for the answers guys, i didn't know missions like the one in el gorah got tax relief, i'm also looking at volunteering for an ATR billet there as well, i think it would be a little bit safer
