Canadian Military involvment in Iraq, and Canadian political support. - The Canadian Forces going to Iraq?

All wars are dirty. We can't afford it but we can afford "free" childcare?  ::)

The Canadian Army Journal, Vol.7, Number 1

How about voting as a way to show support for the military? How about calls to the gov't to increase spending? I have yet to see any of that, combined with what seems like a growing pacifist sentiment in Canada i dont' see much support for, or interest in our military. I live in toronto mind you...

The Canadian Army Journal, Vol.7, Number 1

I guess this thread has been officially hijacked! Sorry everyone, sorry. I do not believe that the army is going to crumble, I believe it already has. I guess it depends on you definition. Our gov't says they are committed to fighting and winning the war on terror and yet what have we...

The Canadian Army Journal, Vol.7, Number 1

Infanteer, I didn't mean to suggest we were going to crumble, I meant to suggest that sometime in the not to distant future the people of Canada are going to have to decide if the want an armed forces at all. I would suggest that many if not most do not. "We're doing just fine." Do you really...

Fighting & Winning The Global War on Terror (WW IV)

I suspect it is a little of both; politically strategic? Setting her up for presidency may be a longer term strategic measure to ensure the war aims are continued past the next four years.

I understand and agree, I'm not making a statement about the Reg/Reserve thing, I'm just disillusioned and skeptical. Plus I'm beginning to think our armed Forces are going the way of the Dodo bird.

I have trouble believing that as a reservist my ideas are taken seriously. Optimist by nature, pessimist by experience.

    CAUTION- Windbag Alert!!!!

"Unless people have the time, energy and inclination to do the basic research, they will tend to believe that the "news" is presenting an accurate picture of the world, and react accordingly. Parrish and her supporters don't care enough to take the time and effort, and we are seeing the...

Bush's Lost Year - Strategic Failure in the GWOT

Thank you Che, that was my point, arrogance is an opinion. I think his biggest problem is people "misunderestimate" him because of his speaking style. As for "Bush isn't too different from any other president, slight foreign policy differences" you may want to do some reading on the Bush...

Bush's Lost Year - Strategic Failure in the GWOT

"Bush's problem is his and his administration's arrogance and the lack of diplomacy when dealing with the World as a whole!!" I hear this assertion of arrogance repeated time and again but without any examples to back it up, could you please be so kind as to illustrate your point for me?

    The Leaders Debate

Amusing or a sickening display of typical biased media reporting? Note they didn't even mention Duceppe's name or the fact he ruined Martin with his closing remarks? Long live the good old CBC!

    The Leaders Debate

I watched some of the french debate and the entire english debate and personally I ranked them in this order. Duceppe, Harper, Martin, Layton. Duceppe surprised me in that he's an excellent debater and burned Martin several times. It looked to me like He and Harper would at least be able to...

Bush is given Papal lecture on Iraq

Well it took me about 2 minutes of searching to find this. Decide for yourself if the first article is slanted. Transcript: Pope's speech Pope John Paul II reiterated his opposition to the US-led war in Iraq during a meeting of with US President George W Bush in Rome on Friday. A full text...

Advice for women on BMQ and other courses [MERGED]

I can‘t speak for the entire CF, but it has been my experience that adding the opposite gender(whatever that means nowadays) to a homogeneous group creates problems. In other words take a group of guys and add a girl or a group of girls and add a guy and you‘ll get what I described above.

Advice for women on BMQ and other courses [MERGED]

Ok I see I‘m going to have to put this as plainly as possible. In any given mixed gender unit you have the guys that are trying to get in the chick‘s pants, the guys who everyone THINKS are trying to get in the girls pants, the guy(s) who has been accused of harrassing the chick, the guys who...

Advice for women on BMQ and other courses [MERGED]

Enzo you are absolutely correct, there are mixed units serving all over the world, are you suggesting though that there are no problems in those deployments? I agree with you that the answer is to see soldiers as soldiers, unfortunately experience has shown me that isn‘t possible. Human...

Advice for women on BMQ and other courses [MERGED]

Teste teste Enzo! Nice post but you didn‘t really say anything. How can you remove Sex (capital S) from the sexes? Its human nature, it‘s like removing breathing. You said it yourself, "Young people are going to find a way to get together and have sex; regardless of the rules and the risks."...

Ottawa offered to join Iraq war

The point that was initially being argued was that "we don‘t go to war without UN approval"..then the UN got changed to "international organisations"...now you‘re saying "this is the first time the US has invaded a country without the backing of an international organization". I think you need...
