in the us : the military will do what it can to accomodate someone. Usually it's not that difficult.
Ideally, the onus should be on the person to 'accomodate' the military to his religion - not the other way around. if they don't - one must question why they even joined in the first place...
no. But humans ARE the same, and the reasons for suicides in both countries are also similar. Depression.
No one kills themselves cuz they're too happy :)

whatever the name of the contracting company is. i don't keep track.
here's a good article about just that :

we have a huge # of suicides here too. So it's not that different. And Russian soldiers are even poorer, have less rights, less benefits and less educated than our soldiers. Which adds to their depression.
You gotta take in account also, most suicides are by teens - and many enlisted teens...
in terms of savings - we are poorer now than we ever were.
the 'housing boom' was merely generated by debt. Nothing of value was created. And we all know wealth follows production, not consumerism.
As soon as New Europe starts buying up chinese goods, and starts taking up our slack - our use...
Why should Joe Cheeseburger care what's going on in iraq?
They want to hear of a victory, and troops coming home. That's it.
And that's not happening. That's why people are pissed. Don't get me started on the opinions of the war btw :)

???
i've never seen anything of the like. My suspicion is some group trying to cause schit, recruit members, and annoy people on the base. If they simply spend 1-2 hours on a sunday, meeting and talking - just like any other religion - who'd care?
On sundays we have 'religious' services. If...
for most - that's a lot of work, and jesus it took me freakin' 7 months just to get sgli taken out of my paycheck! welcome to the efficient army machine :)
r
i dunno about that. There are people in my unit who want to go to iraq, some even mp's - and can't. A 'thanks but no thanks'. Even offering to switch to a deployable unit, whatever it takes.
Funding issues? Strategic Issues? Who knows, but probably.
r
that might be it. civi's cost money, and i can't imagine cash-strapped bases forking out cash for civiis unless they have no other choice.
not many mps i know want 'shit detail' of manning a gate at 3am stateside. it's very boring. most would rather be in iraq then. :)
r
getting out is so easy. just a trip to the chaplain and blurt out 'i think i'm gay'. that's it.
awol is for losers. even if u really really really didn't want to deploy - the army can work with you and maybe reassign you, maybe make u a full-time 'fobbie' (guys who never leave the wire). ...
one cannot ignore the politics behind the scenes. contracts, political influence, and budgets all play a key role in deciding what gets purchased, and what doesn't. "safety" for troops is low down on the list.
sick.
r
all the army has to do, is enter hteir name into NCIC
then they can spend the rest of their lives driving the speed limit.
they'll get caught one day, throw into county jail. then told 'this will happen everytime until you fly yourself down to the base in ky and clear this up'.
majority will...
