I'm thinking there must be serious talks about a "split" contract, but perhaps an uneven split (something like 8 and 4). The Carney government is very interested in developing strong ties with both Europe (and Germany in particular), as well as SK. Apparently the Navy's objections have become...
Latest from VARD re. CDC. Seems to have evolved to be more in line with what VAdm Topshee has stated he'd like to see in this class. Of note the "minimum" 16 MK41 VLS. 107.7 m in length, so close to the stated preference of 105 m. 21,333 SHP, 26+ knots. Pretty impressive credentials.
First I hear of a modified 2800 ton exports version of KSS-111 being proposed for Canada.

Despite the fact that battlespace management (C2) is a key capability? This is after all an AEW&C platform.

The electronics on the E-7 are at least 15 years old (probably more like 20). The SAAB...
Very interesting analysis by Philippe Legase on the different approaches between SK and Germany on the CPSP:

Make me even more in favour of Hanwha winning this. However, there are strong strategic reasons in favour of a...
I have a similar story yesterday trying to get my mom to an appointment at the Bruyere Family Health Centre, only coming from the West end of town. Got off the Queensway at Lees, and Lees was backed up past Ottawa U. Took 45 minutes to get the 4 Kms from Lees to Bruyere Street. F@*ing crazy...
Designed by the Demon Crowley, just like he did with the M25 around London. :ROFLMAO:
(Fan of the book and TV series Good Omens will understand the reference).
Of note, the TKMS CEO said at CANSEC they now are able to supply 4 x Type 212CDs to Canada by 2036, by offering up boats that were previously set aside for Germany and Norway. That to me hints at a level of desperation by the Germans.
Another contract, this time related to the underwater warfare side of the RCD:

I feel this decision reduces the chance of a Gripen buy, or at least reduces the number. It's a win for Saab (and Europe), which from Carney's perspective is an important consideration. I would not be surprised an F35 announcement will be favourable to the US.
Interesting news re. SK's plan to build a nuclear submarine, using LE fuel, something Canada could potentially assist with. Even more reason to go with them if we'd like an eventual path to nuclear boats. The model even looks like the KSS III.

Interesting read, applicable to Canada, on how Portugal was able to sail an AIP sub under Arctic waters.

Chuck Hill of US Coast Guard fame did an interesting piece on the CDC:
