    Absalon Loading Pictures

It only Loads or unloads from the rear. The smaller door is used for minelaying, or to stream a VDS.(salmon, I believe). The ship also uses 'plug and play' interfaces to the radar and other electronics systems. I will post a better synopsis this weekend, when I find my back issue to Jane's IDR...

    Absalon Loading Pictures

The Absalon has Harpoon embarked as representative of a land attack missile. I know that the Danes upgraded their harpoons with GPS for land attack(block 3?) but how capable this is, I do not know. What I do like is the modularity of the weapons systems. For example The ESSM launchers on the...

QOR Airborne Coy & proposed Airborne Battalion

Firing basic charges was part of my AIC course, and, I was told, one had to complete 2 'exercises' with the CAR (Involving jumps of course) to earn your white wings in the QOR. Of course, this was 20 years ago. "The man with a 2, is a friend to you"

    64 Pattern Web Gear

Does anyone know anything about the background of the 64 pattern "webgear"? Why it was designed the way it was? I seem to also recall a large soft pack, that had a tumpline (sp?) attached to it. What the heck was that for?

The Corvette - A Ship For The 21st Century Canadian Navy

I find it interesting that the Danish navy is replacing it's Niels Juels class corvettes with a follow-on to the Absalon class (smaller flex deck, greater weapons). As an aside, I recall reading an article in Jane's Defense Weekly on this ship that if it was stationed in the Great Belt and...

    Bruce Lee & Wilson Herdman

Interested in locating two characters from the late 80's. Bruce Arnot Lee was in 2CER (capt?) the last I heard, and Wilson Herdman ( I may have spelled the last name wrong) was an Armoured officer in Edmonton around that time. Thanks loads.

York U: Flower Power, Pray for Peace!

I had an odd experience at York during the first Gulf war. I was in a pub on campus drinking, when the bombing started. With the exception of one individual, about 40 people started cheering. Sounds like the place has gone downhill.
