Lots of people like J&T or Moon for Thai/Japanese food (they're ok), but Thum's is easily the best Thai food in the area. Schnitzel's is a solid hangout place. There's also a nice patio restaurant on the river about 5 min on Montreal Rd eastbound out of Cornwall for the summer.
Don't get stuck...
A pre-course 'common' phase is more than a rumour.
The students will be loaded on their particular stream (IFR/VFR/WPNS) as per the norm now, and the 3 week all-encompassing AEC training will just be added before each individual course. Their aptitude within the common phase will not affect...
The training outline that you have stated is old and inaccurate now.
First you do BMOQ (basic) and then you are normally attach-posted to a wing for OJE (on-the-job experience) while you await your course. There is no longer a requirement for Second Language Training. During this OJE you...
When I wrote the exam they told me I got 9/9 - the test has multiple parts and tons of questions.
I would be shocked if they marked it on a straight percentage scale, as there are parts put in that 99% of people just cannot finish in the alotted time.
If it's like it has been for the last few years, nearly all students have gotten their choice between ATC/AW (disclaimer: VFR vs IFR preferences within ATC are a little more restrictive).
In the AW side, the opportunities that you seek are indeed quite plentiful. Weapons Controllers love the...
The acronyms/abbreviations/symbols and their definitions/meanings are not covered comprehensively in the DL package. You are expected to memorize them and what they stand for (i.e. AI19S - cleared to the airport for the ILS RWY 19 approach full stop), but you are not expected to know...
Math/physics is definitely not necessary for AEC - however I'd be surprised if there wasn't a correlation between math/physics aptitude and AEC ability.
As for succeeding in Cornwall: a desire for the trade, a lot of hard work, and more-than-sufficient pre-course training (memorizing DL...
Thank you for the information sir. It's very much appreciated. I do have one last query about the Jan 2010 VFR course - and whether there are spots remaining.
on our course there was virtually no interaction - you were often in the same break areas/areas of farnham/etc., but we never performed tasks alongside our 'sister' platoon
To touch on a topic mentioned earlier in this thread - is VFR still open to newbies as a first course? I'm not interested at all, but there've been back and forths about whether it was officially closed to new ATCs.
Similarly, is the January IFR course full yet?
you should have plenty of time to look over manops while on OJT - between that, sim work, section and wing orders and overall observation there`s a lot to do (you just have to take it on yourself - something I didn`t realize before aerospaced smartened me up earlier in this thread)
you could...
