    Some aviation history....

Hi Dan, I'm glad you like the photo. At this time I won't be making a high res version available, sorry. This particular Corsair was being flown in Florida and was subsequently purchased by VWC and flown to their hangar in 2007.  The complete story of the plane can be viewed here --...

    Some aviation history....

My apologies to the mods if I should have posted this elsewhere; please feel free to move if necessary. I've never caught so much history in just one photo. Back in 2012 I was fortunate enough to attend a show at Vintage Wings of Canada's home base in Gatineau, PQ.  This photo captures the...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Any new platform is going to come with a lot of logistical changes and training, it doesn't matter what plane we get. Yes, cost per flight is more -- that happens when you put a stealth coating on an airplane. Sacrifice flight performance because of stealth? Just curious what was sacrificed and...

    Plane Porn -- CC150 Polaris

I've been away for a bit but recently started taking some more aviation photos...here's one of 437 Squadron's Polaris aircraft all styled up in a retro scheme that used to be on the CC-137 Husky's which were flown by the same squadron in the 80's and 90's.  Cheers!

    F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF)

In the event of an open competition....I don't think I can complete my thought as I'm laughing at that opening too hard...lol It'd be nice to see how a Strike Eagle variant would stand against the F-35A.  I know it'd lose, but it'd be an interesting competition none the less given the Strike...

    Air Shows

I've taken a bit of a hiatus from photography the last couple of years, but I will be attending the Quinte show next weekend with my camera in hand. Hope to post some photos soon thereafter in this thread, if that's okay?

    CF-188 Hornet, Canada's jet fighter

I'm quite sure that classified briefings would have been given to any country who was interested in purchasing any one of the contenders.  One will never know the true technical aspects of an enemies defensive or offensive capabilities unless they were to have it fed to them through...

    CF-188 Hornet, Canada's jet fighter

I don't know about present day, but I do know that during the beginning of the conversion to the SH by the US Navy that there were dual qualified instructors who were doing both legacy and Super Hornet instructing. Given we'd probably be getting the E variant I believe that a lot of the...

    CF-188 Hornet, Canada's jet fighter

With respect, I think your first sentence is entirely the problem with how people look at this situation. Canada never has only looked ahead 20 years with regards to any military aviation purposed platform as we normally fly things for almost 40 years.  A government 20 years from now isn't...

    CF-188 Hornet, Canada's jet fighter

Taliban no...but ISIS shot down an F-16, did they not? Fewer jets but greater lethality.  It's also a sign of budget cuts...again...sigh... As for a loss rate, with the engine being of much better quality, I believe there'll be fewer training losses.  On the upside, if there is an upside to a...

    CF-188 Hornet, Canada's jet fighter

Just out of curiousity, if the F-35 can carry a greater payload via SDB's, and are produced and utilised by more nations than other legacy fighters like Hornets, Vipers, or even Eagles for that matter, how could there be too few of them to perform in the CAS role the way that legacy fighters...
