I don't think anyone else really needs to. Maybe I'm bias but COGS in Lawrencetown, N.S., is arguably the best applied geomatics/surveying school in Canada. When I was going through the post-grad program over there there were a couple of geo. techs going through the land course at the time. I...
Hey thanks for all the great information and answers guys. Sounds like AEC is certainly an occupation with a good deal of variety and challenges. Cheers
Can you (or any other AEC's) comment any further on what types of postings/opportunities are available to ATC folks, as mentioned above? There seems to be a lot of info available on what the AWC side of the house can see and do but not much on what's available in terms of non-conventional (i.e...
Noted, thanks for that. I had looked for info on the RAAF as well and couldn't find it.
I think at this point it's safe to sum up the general opinion on this topic as a resounding cry of "who cares!?!" ...to conclude this thread.
My sincerest apologies to any panties that got bunched up at...
Good to hear from someone actually there doing the job. I guess in the end the only thing that matters is that the job gets done and done well. Great conversation though! More lively than there has been in a while I'd say.
Putting aside the penis measuring remarks for a moment, I think there are some interesting points being made here...
On one hand, I think SeaKingTacco is right, the argument can certainly be made that badges for training or deeds accomplished do serve to give credit where credit is due...
Thanks for the input A_O. Is it at all common for those trained in Wpns to move to the Traffic side of the house (and vice versa) throughout an AEC career?
Well it's good to know I wasn't the only one thinking about it. It sounds like this discussion might not be over and is being discussed outside of army.ca in the "real world" as well.
Oh no worries. I think I'd be happy doing either. Lord knows I have a ways to go before any of those choices come up anyway. I appreciate the heads up though.
Did I offend someone? If so, that wasn't the intent.
Back to the original topic...
I was just curious as to the distinction between the stub-wings and aircrew wings and how that was determined. I'm sure most AEC's in AWACS jobs don't think about it either. The fact that some trades seemed to...
Hey buddy, doesn't make much difference to me either way. Just curious if it had ever been looked at, or why it hadn't considering the job those folks are doing once AW qual'd.
The old man is a loadie though and I'm sure he'll be quick to point out the ole aircrew wings mighty quick if I come...
In terms of AEC's/AC Op's going from an AWACS job to back to the tower/North Bay, would this not be akin to a Pilot/ACSO/AESOP doing a ground tour? Correct me if I'm wrong but typically, the guys/gals that are currently considered aircrew go back and forth throughout their careers. Is this...
