High Ranking Police Folk Allegedly Behaving Badly

Agreed. While this is a bit of an "oops". It would for all intents and purposes seem that the officer involved has owned it. Not really an example of "Behaving badly"...

    Asbestos Latvia

Asbestos is one of those funny materials. Unless it's particulate / dust, in a friable state, it's fairly stable, and harmless. PSPC, and DND have conducted exhaustive inventories of the stuff in all buildings in current portfolio, remediated where required. Depending on when the buildings...

Four RMC cadets killed in vehicle accident on campus

Death by misadventure. Sadly it does occur.

    Bow Hunting Vs Rifle Hunting

Definitely helps come bird season. I won't hunt with anyone who hasn't joined me on the skeet field and shot at least 4-5 rounds. Nothing more frustrating than being in the field, and having a bird get missed by one or more guys, who empty the gun, then look at the gun like it's to blame.

209.295 –Transportation Assistance for Reserve Force Personnel on Class "A" Reserve Service

That was my experience. Once it was calculated out. The ROR would just confirm nights or weekends of training, and it got added to the pay accordingly.

Somehow a Fitness Thread from a "Kiwi shoe polish" Thread

Can confirm. Having done several FORCE tests over the years, and also perfoming the CPAT for Fire. The CPAT is hands down a more occupational related test. Never felt gassed after a FORCE test quite the same as the CPAT.

    Emergency Response Times

When I joined fire out here, I was shown a map basically showing 5 other Canadian municipalities within Ottawas borders.

Yeah, no illusions on this end.

    Emergency Response Times

No surprise. The "Do more, with less" mentality. As a rural resident just outside Ottawa, the former Township of West Carleton ( where I Live in Constance Bay), has two cruisers available at any given time, over a huge geographical area, average response time for Police and EMS is typically...

Is anyone here from the Queen's York Rangers?

Just going to suggest that recruiters are usually very busy in the PRes world. Might be a better choice to drop in on a parade night.

Air Force major charged in firearms bust in Kingston, Petawawa

Was thinking this as well. Most rec shooters know that despite ammo being cheaper in the US, if you buy it there, you have to shoot it there, otherwise the BATF will have an issue the minute you go to come home ( export). CBSA doesn't care though...

    Secret clearance

Same this end. Renewals are slightly faster, but new clearances are taking 6-8months.

Clearance question + application process question

Fair. Where I am it's all LVL II, LVL III. I wasn't aware the requirements for most trades had been changed. Mind you, it's also been some time since I worked in a regular CAF environment.

Clearance question + application process question

Depending on your environment, your clearance above reliability doesn't really factor in. Unless you're going to a trade where LVL II or III is req'd. Reliability is the baseline for most trades. It won't expedite the process.

Minister Anand announces $1.4 billion investment to upgrade Dwyer Hill Training Centre infrastructure

I live just next to the Ottawa river in Cbay. There are lots of overflights by both CH146, and CH147. There are also a ton of overflights by ORNGE. Reason being, is that the Ottawa River is an easy landmark for both TOH, and the Civic. As well as CAF flights transiting to PET. Still has...

Minister Anand announces $1.4 billion investment to upgrade Dwyer Hill Training Centre infrastructure

And given the distance from Ottawa, as well as other infrastructure...not optimal.
