    BMQ for July 2011

I am enjoying my last weekend, but my liver isn't lol. I have some slight nerves, but the excitement is over taking it. We'll see how that feels when we meet as a platoon with the staff and things begin to roll.

    BMQ for July 2011

When I did my medical last July they were a bit concerned that I was 278. Mind you I am also 6'4 and it was the off season from hockey so I wasn't my best shape. I re-did my medical the day I swore in this July and was down to 240. The medic asked me what my secret was :P.

I think the reality of the situation is starting to set in for me as I sit here with two weeks left till BMQ. I'm more excited for BMQ then I ever was for Christmas as a kid. That can't be healthy, right? lol

    Frustrated .. I am seeing a red

The way I look at it is I can sit here and go stir crazy for the next nine days, which won't change anything or keep busy at work and the gym. It's not going to change whats open or not :). But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping just a tad lol

    Frustrated .. I am seeing a red

The recruiter I spoke with was great and gave me a few other options I can look at in case the spots filled up. He also made it very clear that the 17 spots would go within a few days so I wouldn't be "shocked" when it happened. My friend was just asking to see how many were left since he was...

    Frustrated .. I am seeing a red

I've been in the recruiting process since December 2009 and had my medical and interview this past Monday (12/07/10) and am waiting my two weeks for the reliability check. I was told Monday that there were still 17 sports open for NavCom and a friend of mine went into the CFRC today and asked...

There's a definition of teamwork lol. Personally I'd rather have a crappy pair of boots because someone tried to help me, then sitting on my bunk scratching my head because I can't learn it for myself.

I think I get what Smity199 is saying. I'll use a cadet example (shudders, yes I know lol). I was lucky enough to do a day sail on the Iroquois with a few other cadets and we had this one genious with us who let on that he knew everything there was about anything on the water. We got to handle...

    January 2010 BMQ

I wasn't the one stating that I had been studying the ranks. Personally I'm just making sure I am physically ready and not over thinking anything that could happen in BMQ.  :christmas happy:

FYI: Brochure for Telling your empoyer you want to join the reserves

Thanks for clearing that up. Like I said, I had just skimmed over the section but only caught a few key sentences.

    weapons tech training question

combatbuddha, I was directed to this thread as it is one of the few that talks about EO Techs and wanted to ask a few questions. The main one was as an EO Tech, what does your normal work day consist of and what does a work day in the feild deployed consist of? Any pros or cons (if you have...

    Electronic-Optronic Technician ( EO Tech )

Thanks! I searched EO Tech and got too many results, threads that had the word Tech in them and the vowels E and O and I went through them but it doesn't surprise me I missed it. Two of those threads are over a year old so they were buried deep. When I fired in the actual trade name I only had...

    Electronic-Optronic Technician ( EO Tech )

I did a site search and looked through both the Comm Elec thread and the Combat Service Supt thread with no mention of my second trade choice. I was basically looking to talk with a Electronic-Optronic Technician - Land and see what their personal experiences are and how they like the trade. I...

FYI: Brochure for Telling your empoyer you want to join the reserves

I thought it was law that if you are a reservist your employer has to give you time off for training/deployments and have your job ready for you when you get back? I know at my last job there was a section on "by law yada yada yada" but since I wasn't a reservist I didn't pay much attention to it.

Thanks for the tip. I think I seen him in a later episode and he was instructing another platoon. It was hard to tell but I kept hearing "Heart" and "***k" being used several times in one sentence in the background.

    Feb/March BMQ 2010

I was told that my application will not be reviewed until April, or if they get the go ahead to start early, March. What trade are you being offered?

    Finally Ready

Thanks McCurdy526!   I went to see my doctor a few months ago because I was starting a more intensive workout and I wanted to get a general check up since I never really get sick and he cleared me. I worked at a daycare/afterschool program for 8 years so my immune system is pretty strong too...

    Basic Up

I was surprised to see the channel closed down, its not like they were infringing anything that I could see. My friend (who was the only female to pass basic in Reloaded) stated that the 13km hike was the hardest part and the video made things look worse as well. I also noticed that MBdr...

    Finally Ready

My grandfather transfered from the Royal Navy to the Canadian Navy back in the 50's and was always telling me stories about him and "The guys" as they were on 18 month deployments with NATO and such. I joined Air Cadets when I was 12, being a huge aviation enthusiast so I could get a chance to...
