"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

You will not be done able to make the September 2014 intake. I am at 3 CFFTS right now and they are trying to push a ton of Seneca guys through before the September 2014 class. The pre-req's to attending Seneca are BMOQ and successful completion of Phase I, here in Portage, so you have to do the...

    Declining an offer (merged)

I rejected two offers before I got my first choice. If anything I believe it shows that you really want your number 1. No need to worry.

    2013 FY DEO Pilot Selection

You remain on the merit list as long as your file is up to date. You are normally good for at least a year until you need to redo your medical and interview, they might have you do an update interview as well after about 6 months. I was not selected the first time when I was merit listed, but...

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

The other thing you might want to consider is finishing your degree and then applying for DEO. I applied after my first year university and my post secondary marks were not stellar either. I was not successful for ROTP, but after finishing my degree was able to get an offer for DEO. There are...

"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

If you add Pilot to your application there are a few extra steps you will need to do. 1) There is an extra eye exam you need to add to your medical. 2) I am pretty sure you will need to do an update interview. As long as that goes ok they will load you on to a ASC course, not too sure how...

    June 24 DEO Pilot Selection

There doesn't seem to be any sort of standard for the time frame. I have been offered MARS and AEC positions the past two selections. My MARS offer cam about two days after the selection date and AEC was almost three weeks after. Hoping that the 3rd times the charm!

    acl surgery

I agree PuckChaser the mental part is often the hardest. To the OP, the best thing you can possibly do to improve your chances is a lot of rehab and muscle strengthening exercises. The stronger your hamstrings and quads are, the less stress on ligaments and tendons in your knee. When you wear...

    June 24 DEO Pilot Selection

Nope quiet over here in Edmonton. If I remember correctly my file manager told me that the news travels through Calgary before it gets to them, so if Calgary is still bailing water out of their office it might be sometime before word reaches here!

    June 24 DEO Pilot Selection

Good points NLockhart. By the 1/3 chance I was simply implying there may be 70 spots left and 200+ ish people on the list. Definitely your experience and performance will dictate how competitive you are and it is not as simple as drawing names at random. The merit list is not based on any...

    June 24 DEO Pilot Selection

I am out of CFRC Edmonton. I also doubt they would fill all 70 spots at once for a couple reasons. 1) There are limited spots available for BMOQ in any given platoon and it would not make sense to fill them with only one trade. 2) The pilot pipeline can only handle so many recruits at a given...

    June 24 DEO Pilot Selection

Good luck to everyone. I haven't heard anything out west here yet. When did you guys here that there were more spots then people on the merit list? I was told by someone at my CFRC that there were 300+ on the merit list for DEO. I hope your recruiter is right however! LOL.

    acl surgery

I don't know about wearing a brace, but I also had the same surgery. You will need to get the op reports sent to the Med Tech or doctor and then they will make the decision.

    DEO 2013 financial year

The significance of a trade being open or closed determines if they process your application or not. This has been the trickiest thing for me to date. I have now applied for Pilot 5 times.  This is the first time that my file has been processed to completion. In passed attempts I have...

"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

Since you do not have a degree yet there are two options right now (as long as CEOTP is still open, which I think it is): ROTP (Regular Officer Training Plan) - They pay for your school and pay you a wage while you attend school in return you owe them a few more years of service then some other...

    Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP)-RMC 2000 - 2018 [Merged]

It cost me every personal day that I had and over 600 in lost wages and 2.5 pensionable days. It was worth it.
