    Reservists Job Protection Superthread

Your situation smells political, thread with caution. An employer balking at giving a reservist 3 days for training one fall, then 2 weeks for training the next summer, seems to be flirting dangerously with bad, bad PR in the land of Alberta. There must be more context to your situation...

    Army Is Looking to SMG's

The reasonable option would have been a 10"-11" 5.56 carbine. I suspect that the pointy heads would loath to introduce something like this, as it would end up in "the wrong hands", ie the army at large. Making it 9mm would prevent it from making it's way to the general infantry. I'm out now, but...

New machine guns from. Colt Canada

When I visited the factory c. January 2016, I was shown the machine that could manufacture receivers from scratch. IIRC the plan was to save what was still serviceable from the C6 (as parts) and build basically zero hours/rounds C6a1. Please understand that I learned many things that day and...

Western Canada Reserve Military Police Questions

PRes MP platoons do not belong to their local reserve brigades, but rather to a reserve company, which is part of a RegF MP Regiment. You will not get far if you try to go through 33 CBG, if your intent is to join the MPs. There is a reserve MP platoon in Ottawa: 33 MP Platoon. I think, IIRC...

Divining the right role, capabilities, structure, and Regimental System for Canada's Army Reserves

Don't get me wrong, I tend to be underwhelmed when unmotivated troops complain about doing the same training over and over, while still not being able to recall basic info. Sure we do battle procedure every year, but how many can rattle off something close to the 15/16/17 steps? Sigh.

Divining the right role, capabilities, structure, and Regimental System for Canada's Army Reserves

I guess my writing didn't do justice to my concept. While I did mention that some people do try and implement a civilianized version of military procedure, the crux of my argument is that the skills taught on PLQ are a great asset to most organization, on an individual basis. Militaries are...

Divining the right role, capabilities, structure, and Regimental System for Canada's Army Reserves

While we should still refer to PLQ as a leadership course between us .mil folks, y'all need to "civillianize" the teaching points. I heard that some people even went as far as becoming consultants using the battle procedure and communication process, to help increase efficiency in businesses...
