    3 Jump Rucks for Sale

Hate to give you the bad news but, when I retired from the reserve in June 2014, I got a lump sum in may 2015, and monthlies thereafter.... You may have to sell more of your collection.

F22 Raptors escort Pope Francis's plane during US tour

Would been nice to see an escort by F35s ... That would lead us to believe that it is or was the world's best fighter that Canada planned on buying. Which leads us to wonder why we weren't trying to buy the F22.... Even if the US isn't selling.

Pay: Statements, Backpay, Benefits, Deductions (Taxes, T4), Deployed ect... [MERGED]

,TD is the reimbursement of expenses, not taxable. Someone puts thru a claim for you and it's paid separately from your pay. FOA, sea, para & specialty pay is a taxable item.... Are treated like your regular pay. If you TD is included on your pay and recorded as taxable, that's as wrong as you...

    BMQ Regular Force 2005 - 2017 [Merged]

My son went thru his basic last summer. He was separated from all forms of technology for 4 weeks. The best thing ever.... It allowed all the troops to bond together... Without the input from friends and family who do not understand.... Ask him now, and he would agree.... But it's like quitting...

Divining the right role, capabilities, structure, and Regimental System for Canada's Army Reserves

Another problem has to do with last minute course cancellation. A reservist has gone and allocated his vacation time & more for his career course, his employer has juggled shift changes to let you go.... And the Friday afternoon before you're supposed to leave.... They cancel the course. The...

Divining the right role, capabilities, structure, and Regimental System for Canada's Army Reserves

The CF is, on the whole, a lousy employer of reservists. You may be due for a career course, there may be an available position on same said course, but your class B employer won't let you go... So you want the full time job, or the course and career advancement?

Stephen Harper pledges expansion of military reserves

I think the gov't and the CF should stop considering the Reserve's budget as being their "loose change" - something they can do without - the path of least resistance.

Stephen Harper pledges expansion of military reserves

You can plan to hire and employ as many reservists as you want, but the day the government tells the CF to cut xx millions from his budget, where do you think he's going to cut 1st.... Class A reservists payroll & field training budget is one of the only places the CDS can cut, without...

Is There Anything I Should Have But Won't Be Issued?

There is all sorts of jammy kit you could buy..... But then, you'd have to carry it in the field. A decent "indiglow" tiimex watch, a small flashlight or headlamp are prolly the only field kit you need to buy. In order to pass your daily room/ kit inspection, you might want to consider a...

    US Army Berets

We just have to go back to the berets of WW II... And they were huge - when compared to today's standards. I still have my dad's tank corp beret from 1939.... And it's big.... About the size of the American beret. Come to think of it, my 1968 Canadian infantry corp beret is about that size.....

Reactivation of 433 and 401 Fighter Squadrons (a split & merged thread)

Just checked my facts.... 115 auxiliary sqn was combined with 1 sqn rcaf for overseas service.... And became 401 sqn when sqn numbers were reassigned

Believe 401 sqn traces its roots back to 115 reserve sqn in 1934....

Reactivation of 433 and 401 Fighter Squadrons (a split & merged thread)

Don't have to like it, but there is no reason to disrespect 401s track record. It is a shame to retire a respected unit, but it is good to see a respected unit come back from oblivion. IMHO
