AOR Replacement & the Joint Support Ship (Merged Threads)

Thanks - I wasn't sure exactly what taking part meant.

AOR Replacement & the Joint Support Ship (Merged Threads)

As I understand it, Asterix actually took part in Operation Nanook this year.

    FWSAR (CC130H, Buffalo, C27J, V22): Status & Possibilities

I saw one of these when I was taking off from SVQ the other day.  Unfortunately, too dark/no time for a picture.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

I'd love to discuss this further - I just know I'll get in trouble for doing it here.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

I've always been a proponent of that, yeah.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

While I hate to derail this thread, that isn't even remotely true.  Our debt to GDP ratio is small and decreasing, unlike Spain.

AOR Replacement & the Joint Support Ship (Merged Threads)

For government accounting and budgeting purposes, it's far more important to know the entire cost of the 'apple'.

    Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship AOPS

Are they being replaced 1 for 1, or will all 12 CPF be kept until the 4th CSC to bring us back to 15 ships?

    Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship AOPS

Why - the plan was for 6 originally.  That's what the navy wanted.

    Canadian Surface Combatant RFQ

Well in the context of the world's fleet of large surface combatants, 15 actually puts us in pretty good standing in terms of numbers.

    Canada-US Trade Relations

It's worth pointing out that other recent agreements we've signed, like CETA, the CPTPP, and the agreement with some South American countries all have the chapters on gender, climate, and indigenous rights.  Those negotiations started before the Trudeau government.  It's clear no one is...

    US vs Canada

Really?  Most of Canada's military expeditionary budget has been spent in support of US initiatives, often with little benefit to us.  We're like the people that help pay for the meal that we didn't even eat any of.

    US vs Canada

So lets say you're right - lets say that the US has paid for a portion of our defence (I dispute that, but we'll let that stand for now).  What then, does that have to do for NAFTA, an agreement that has given them a trade surplus over us, and has contributed to massive economic growth for them?
  16. J

    US vs Canada

That's not how this works, actually.  You've made the accusation that without the US there, we'd be Russian.  It's far more likely that without the US choosing to play world policeman, we'd all be living very different lives.  Does that mean that they've paid to defend us?  I don't know that it...

Would we?  I don't know that.  Do you?

    US vs Canada

There was a lot there - a lot of baseless insults directed at Trudeau mostly.  He's taken just as seriously as Harper on the international stage, but I don't expect Conservative partisans to see it that way (as someone who defended Harper and now defends Trudeau, it isn't hard for me to see). I...

    US vs Canada

Well I don't know - what is it that the United States has supposedly been defending us from?  What immediate danger to Canada have they paid to stop? This seems more like a work of opportunistic fiction on the part of the President, which is par for the course.

    US vs Canada

Most definitely.  I believe Canada is required to have 36 available aircraft at any given time.  I haven't heard anything about renegotiating those numbers.
