CAF Banking and Financial health [merged]

That's great that you were able to pay all of that off. Credit cards can be very beneficial (I use my credit cards for virtually everything that I can), but yeah, you really have to make sure that you can pay it off in full every single month. If you ever find yourself in that situation again...

CAF Banking and Financial health [merged]

Hello all, I wanted to create this thread about personal finance so that current and prospective members of the CF could create a discussion regarding the topics of bank accounts, credit cards, loans, investing, etc. I have noticed that in general people do not possess a great deal of financial...

Pay: Statements, Backpay, Benefits, Deductions (Taxes, T4), Deployed ect... [MERGED]

I'm currently doing BMOQ and I am getting paid $4163/month (ie. DEO 2LT Pay Increment 1). I am single so I am paying ~$648.41 for rations and quarters. Currently it works out to roughly $2100/month after all the deductions. Keep in mind that before basic I was on LWOP for 73 days and so my...

    BMOQ Regular Force 2014 - 2017 [Merged]

I knew a guy going for the same trade as I was and he got an offer before I did. A week later I got a call for an offer as well so I guess don't lose hope just yet! If the May BMOQ is full then you may get a call for a later BMOQ, provided that you are high enough on the merit list with all the...

    Aircrew Selection/ACS (Merged)

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, but just in case you're not I don't think that's the right mindset to have. The ACS experience is pretty fun but as soon as those tests start you should definitely take it seriously if you actually want to pass.

I think this is way too slow. For TSD calculations you should be at the 10-20s range and for fuel consumption calculations 30-40s max.

    Joining RCAF

If flying jets for the RCAF is your dream, I'm very surprised you haven't spent the 2 minutes it takes to find the information you're looking for.

If you're one to travel abroad frequently and like using your credit card, there are several credit cards now that offer zero foreign currency transaction charges. In other words, you'd have whatever currency you're spending converted to CAD at whatever Visa and MasterCard can get, which is...

    Bell Phone Plan?

I've been with Bell for about 5 years now and I haven't had any problems so I'd like to stay with them if I can. However, I contacted Bell today and they told me that I would have to go through "our" HR department and obtain a NAG ID? I'm not sure what that is but the guy I spoke to gave me the...

    BMOQ Regular Force 2014 - 2017 [Merged]

Yeah I was actually considering applying for IntO as well but I heard that they pretty much only take people who already have experience in the military so I never even bothered putting it on my application haha.

Competitive Sports in the CF and Pilot Training?

Does anyone have any experience with competitive sports in the CF? I would like to join or tryout for the triathlon team but I'm not sure how that would work with a CF pilot's training? Are you basically left to your own devices with regards to training and just show up at events? Or does the...

    BMOQ Regular Force 2014 - 2017 [Merged]

Maybe try in the "Selection Dates" thread in the Recruiting forum. DAA is really helpful and hopefully he can answer your question. Nevertheless, based on what you've said it sounds like you want to know which BMOQ course you're going to make. Just to let you know, I received my offer on...

    Selection Dates 2013-2018

aero_dude, Yeah I went to ACS early November. Just to update I called back on December 11 and they said I have been merit listed, but like you I'm not sure exactly what date I was merit listed. I guess it takes a little over a month from the completion of ACS to receive your air factor and to...

"So You Want To Be A Pilot" Merged Thread 2002 - 2018

Kamm, if you are sure you want to be a pilot in the CF then just apply now (today!). If you do that at least the CFRC has the option to start processing it right away if they choose to - you have nothing to lose. If you don't then you don't give them, and thus yourself, that option. I applied...
