I was reviewing Combat Cook's Active Edge pics and came upon this one of a group of dome tents that I'd never seen before in CF service (mind you I haven't been in since '99).

Are these being issued as a 2-man/fireteam combat tent?

Any feedback on how well they work?

They look pretty similar to our Eureka Combat Tent that we use in the Marines.

Most line units don't use them except in rear-areas/ranges etc. as they're too bulky/heavy to justify themselves added to a Marine's marching load.  However in my LAR unit, we acquired so many of these things in Iraq that everyone had their own as we'd just carry them and all our other crap in/on the vehicle.  ;D

There tents our unit bought, there outbound and north face tents, I dunno if any other units use them. But they work pretty good.

There's a lot of that going around, units buying small tents.

The first one I got was in Eritrea in 2000, we got single person two pole bug tents without flys.  I carried that to Haiti with me, but some guys got new ones, Colemans (pretty cheap) with flys.  Brown or green in colour.  These were bought for the mission because of the mosquito threat and the realization that standard bugnet/poles doesn't cut it in this type of area.  Pleased to say that there wasn't a single case of Dengue or Malaria on either of these missions.
3 CSG pers who deployed to close out Haiti had nice Columbia tents.  These we quite nice tents but not quite tactical, nice blue flys.
I was a guest in USMC tents while in Haiti when working and they are quite nice I must say.  Pack up smaller than a recce tent (4man) and hold up in high winds better.
See if I can scare up a pic of them.

2 Man Tents!!!  Do those tents belong to the guys from the Davie Street Platoon?  I heard those guys kept marching from the Pride Parade, straight to Wainwright.  If you look at the tent closely, one of the troops left his pants are on top of the tent.  He is working on his field promotion.

;D >:D ;D >:D ;D >:D ;D >:D ;D >:D ;D >:D

2 man tent? I'm all for it. Would sure beat setting up a 5 man arctic tent in the summer, for the 1 person that's going to be to ground at a time. Man I love CFSCE!

;D ;D I can't see our SHARP trained military allowing two man tents. Just like being in cells, you can have one person or thee people. Two people only allow for hanky panky to start. ;D ;D

Well, I normally sleep in hotels when I'm "in the field", but I did sleep in a hooch once or twice back in the day, and it was always 2 per hooch. Best frat times I've ever had, especially if your hooch-mate was a lady!  ;D

Ya, I saw the air force types "in the field" on Stalwart Guardian.  Volleyball courts, croquet, bocce ball, field kitchen, patios etc. etc.Man, I'm in the wrong field!!!!!! :P

A Lady.... ::)

We don't have any of those in the Army.  Must be an Air Force thingy.

LOL, that certainly does sound like CFSCE. The sort of people who want you to set up your 40 ft mast 50 feet away, while giving you one piece of 50ft coax.
