Hello everyone, as you can tell I am a new member here. Long time member on CGN, and someone recommended this site. I have applied for a job within the Canadian Forces. I have an interview tomorrow. Now, I was originally interested in becoming an MP, however, after shooting a three gun tactical match and speaking with some CF infantry members, they say it is much more exciting to do infantry. Not only that but, if I ever wanted to get a job as a police officer in a regional police force it would be better to have infantry experience instead of MP. The reason being, that an MP gets into a certain mindset that police forces do not like.

Anyhow, I think I will just go infantry. Do the CFs offer anything to people that apply to the infantry with a college diploma, or is everyone in the same boat? Also what are my chances and wait time of actually being assigned to go anywhere other than being stuck here in Kanuckistan?

-Thanks for the help, and I hope my CFAT and interview go smoothly tomorrow.
-Nick.

You also might want to fix your spelling before the mods get to you  :-X

To summarize. Welcome to Army.ca, start reading.

I also suggest you spend some time in the Infantry Forum, after using the Search function. It'd be beneficial to get a firmer grip on what you're volunteering to do.

edited because I forgot the word "Forum". Wonder what Freud would say?

That would be Canadian Gun Nutz right. I recently started posting on that forum.

HA ha, yeah. My spelling/typing skills do need to improve some.

Perhaps you should speak to the police force which you would like to join and see what qualifications and skills they would like. In the meantime, I'd suggest that if you are going to join, pick an occupation that you would enjoy.

What they don't like police officers thinking like police officers? I don't know what or where you based that statement off of.

I've been told the same thing by the RCMP, OPP, Peel Regional, and EPS.

It does make some sense as to why they wouldn't want you to think like a cop. You'll have this mind set on how "you think" you are supposed to act as a cop. That can be a dangerous thing.

particularly if you are going to 227.  I am sure if you have to write any technical doc's / papers, being able to read them will be helpful   ;D

Actually, since ive started posting on this forum, ive already improved my typing and spelling. Its been a few years since ive been in school and been "forced" to pay attention to my grammar and spelling. The most ive done with typing and spelling has been some MMORPG, MSN, etc.

Hey, I have a GED and was part of the Prince County PEI school system...so I am no pro either BUT...spell check is a cool piece of kit!

I am CT'ing to 226, so you never know, could end up on POET together...maybe you won't be able to read MY writing!  :P

HA, if you want to talk about hand writing..... My hand writing is so bad i cant even think of a joke to describe how bad it is.
