Advice on enlistment possibilities

Hi,

I am currently applying for Infantry Reserves. I have completed everything I need for the recruiting process (FORCE test, CFAT, interview, Medical). My plan was direct entry officer, however I was told that none of the regiments I am looking at have officer positions available (I needed to get everything done earlier in the summer apparently), so I was given two options:

1) enlist now as an NCM

2) wait a year and see if there are any officer positions open later

So my question is, if I enter as an NCM immediately, get the weekend BMQ over with, train and parade as an NCM for a year, can I apply to be an officer if a position opens up next year since I already have a university degree? Or would I have to wait longer than a year or two? Or would I have to quit the reserves after one year, and re-apply for direct entry officer when a position opens up? Are any of those ideas viable?

Basically, What would be process be to go from NCM to an officer given my situation? Do I have it all wrong and have no idea what I'm doing?

Thanks all.
