Any motorcycle lovers out there?? I have a question!

  Hey there everyone......just a quick question for any motorcycle buffs.  Im looking at buying a used bike, a 2000 Suzuki SV650S.......anyway, this thing has almost 50,000 KMS onto it!!!! 
    I know the owner well.  This bike has been maintained immaculately, and always kept clean....oil changes all the time, etc, etc. etc. 
Now my question is, will the high KMs be a problem?  Will the engine need an overhaul soon?  Should I be safe, and buy something with less KMs???

I am an avid biker myself. With bikes, the nice thing is that they can go forever with little expense depending on the type of bike you buy. I would say it also depends on how much your friend is asking for it. You can buy a brand spankin new bike with 0 kms on it for under $8000.

I don't know much about Canadian bike prices anymore, but if it was well maintained it should be a good bike. I did a lot of research before I bought my 2004 Suzuki DL 650 last year and found that the SV650 engine on which it is based is considered "bullet proof" and "indestructible." It is a great engine.

Of more concern would be the condition of the tires, chain, and other parts that wear out. I assume you know what you are getting into with the riding position of the SV650S? Oh, my back hurts just thinking about it    Then again, I am pretty old

Just out of curriosity is it a 1 cylinder?

I have a '86 LS650 Savage slammed into the weeds (about 20 inches from seat to ground  )

If it is....be aware of the timing chain tensioner, mine went at about that distance and was a real pain to replace.

Thanks for the replys guys....and yes.....I'm aware of the riding position!!! .....I'm not too sure on how comfortable I would be on long hauls......Actually the perfect bike for me would be the Bandit, or the V-strom, which are more touring than they are sport.  Basically I want an excellent bike, great shape, and comfortable...................without the monthly payments of a new machine!
          He's only asking 4000 for the thing, and that is right in my price range.......and I know how well maintained it was, so that is definately a plus.
    Hey, if anyone here knows anyone selling a good used bike, let me know!!!!
