Hey everyone.

The idea of joining the Canadian Forces is swirling around my head, and has been swirling around my ahead for the last year or so. I've been going back and fourth between what I want to do as a career. RCMP, Fire Fighter and Paramedic were the careers I was looking into. But I wanted to do something totally amazing and different. I can't stand the idea of having a 9 to 5 job and doing the same things over and over again each day for the rest of my life. (I know those careers I listed aren't that).

I then told my mom what I REALLY wanted to do and she flipped out at the idea of me joining the Forces; saying I'll die, that there's no way I'm allowed to join. Total mom stuff lol. And I totally understand why. This is my main speed bump for me at the moment and the only thing holding me back from sending my application form which I have right in front of me filled out and ready to go. But right now, I'm working at it and trying to tell her I'm old enough to make my own decisions in life. Anyways, on with my topic.

I'm 19 years old, turning 20 in August and I graduated High School with no problems 2 years ago. My grades could have been better, but they weren't THAT horrible. They were kind of all over the map. A's B's and C+'s. I was going to go to Culinary Arts School in the spring following my graduation but backed out on it at the last second because I knew it wasn't what I really wanted to do but more as a hobby. Right now, I'm working as a security guard for the Vancouver Olympics. For the physical part, I have a solid frame: 6'1 230 pounds. I'm really active, playing Hockey and Soccer and my eating habits have really cleaned up since High School. Right now, I'm working on getting down to 215 pounds and getting more in shape.

So as the title says, Armoured Soldier was the one that stood out for me. I'm also hearing that it's in demand (I hope) which gives me a better chance at getting in.

I made this thread to give you a general idea of me and want to know what my chances are at getting a call back. I would love if someone who's an Armoured Soldier or who was one or knows someone who is to give me their opinions on it and some info. Anything will help for me.

Not to be a dick but theres a lot of UFI in your post.

If you want info on the job search the Armour sub-forum and the Join The Forces website.  As for what your chances are of getting a call back submit an application and wait out. Unless you have bad eyesight or do poorly on the apptitude test you should meet the minimum requirements for the trade, as to how long you will have to wait to get in.. too many variables ie waiting list, when courses start, how long it takes you to get through the recruiting process, etc.

Thanks for your reply. I'm in no rush, so if it takes like 10 months, that's fine. I'm just hoping someone who's exierienced as an armoured soldier would give me some pointers.
