The Canadian Forces has a great display set up in the Bayshore Shopping Centre at the moment.

The Army and Navy Reg and PRes Forces are both present, with lots of displays, equipment, and personnel on hand to answer your questions and to just talk with you about their different trades and their experiences in the military.

I talked to several of these fine folks tonight before heading to Scotiabank Place and watching my Sens lose.. :(

So that being said, if you have been too busy to get to the CFRC (somehow?) , or you just happen to have to go to Bayshore, check it out, it's informative, hands on, and if you are into this sort of thing, you can grab some posters and stickers for your walls / cars / whatever. :)

I was at St laurent last week was a good turn out alot of people inquiring . Suprisingly alot of females inquiring.

If anyone has any questions on AVN or V TECH I can fill them on some info on these two trades

Hey, I was wondering how long that booth will be set up?

I went to the CFRC on Thursday, and got some info from the gentlemen there, but I ended up with more questions. That I only thought of after I left, of course.

Those booths are closed down now. You will have to go to the CFRC on Slater Street now for any questions that you want to ask.

There was talk that they may have another display set up in the future at some time in a couple of other mall locations. The location I heard was possibly to in Gatineau at the Esplanade De l'Outaouais, if I heard that correctly, but as yet, there was nothing definite.

So, any questions you want to ask, you'll have to drop in to the CFRC, or give them a call; or if you are interested in the Reserves contact the Unit that you are interested in and ask them.

Yeah I did some recruiting at Bayshore on Sat., never knew it could be so exhausting. Interestingly enough most people who spoke to us were either too old or too young to join ....

I had a tourist take a picture with me, because "she wanted a pic with a canadian soldier". was pretty cool. :cdn:

I live right near there, and went to see some friends from my old Regiment. Even saw GW.

Some pretty well set-up displays, and I know getting the LAV into the mall must have been a bitch

Made me want to join the Army ;)

Did they manage to get it in? When I was there, it wasn't even close...

IIRC, they had to lower the suspension, and let some air out of the tires, but they got 'er in ;D

Good! There must be some videos on Youtube of it squeezing down the hall at St.Laurent; there were a lot of civie's with cell phones taking videos of it.

Just in case someone from Ottawa is interested in the Reserves but they can't make it to the recruiting centre for whatever reason, or they want to contact a Unit directly, I posted a scanned copy of the Ottawa Area Reserve list I received from the recruiting centre here . It is a little dated but it still should still be valid. Personally, I would follow Mr.Wallace's advice and head to the recruiting centre with a trade in mind so they can steer you toward the proper unit. If you do visit a Unit, be sure to get a letter from them for the recruiting process if you are interested.

Good luck!

Talking with the RCR's who were with it, that is what they had to do, plus have the Mechs come and lower the suspension some more. It is the first time ever, I have seen the ramp of a LAV touch the ground. I guess, from what the guys told me, the roof of the LAV cleared the doors by less than 1/2 in.

Pimp my LAV! :D

Now all you need is some neon floor runners, some flame decals, a sweet soundsystem, and a custom CFR saying "stolen" and presto, baddest M***** F****** armoured vehicle in NATO. ;D

You should see what a pain it can be getting the LAV TUA in anywhere. It's profile is at least 3 feet higher than the LAV IIIs
