Basic Recruit Course

Hey everyone. Someone just asked me this and I wasn‘t sure so I figured I‘d ask here as well. Is there any flexibility about which Basic Course you attend? What I mean is do you have a say or do they say, take this one or leave it. Thanks for the help.

If you mean the dates, you can have a choice. Say, if you can‘t make it on a certain date, they can postpone it. But if you mean...if you can choose to be in course 1234 or course 4567 (I‘m just making these numbers up), I don‘t think so. There really isn‘t a good reason for you to change to a course you were not assigned to.

OK I have a question, i‘ve recived my package and am going to basic april 20th how do you figure out your course #?

It tells you in the letter.

When you are presented the offer, it is for that course on that date. If you cannot make that course date, the offer will have to be listed as refused and you will then be re-merit listed for a later course, if you so choose.

In other words, your name is put back into the pool of all the applicants waiting for that trade. Refusing an offer does not harm nor help your chances of receiving a future offer.

Thanks for that clarification. Personally, I will be accepting my offer and everything that comes with it when and if I get it. I‘m told the Military Police offers should be out soon. Needless to say, I‘m getting very excited and ansy at the same time. I know I‘m suitable and that doesn‘t necessarily mean I‘m getting an offer, but I‘ve heard when you‘re found suitable for MP the chances are pretty good. Have you heard anything about the MP‘s on the west coast? Thanks again.

I couldn‘t help you out there but I‘d like to say Congrats I hope you get the job, I‘m thinking about joining MP somewhere in the future or trying at least. Anyways Saun proves a very wise and good point make absolutly sure if you refuse you offer till a later date that you sure becuase I‘m sure i‘m not the only one when I say this but I had to wait 4 months before I received a phone call on my job offer, which btw I took before the recruiting officer could finish his sentece...LOL

I spoke to Borden just the other day and the MPAC results should be coming out soon. That‘s all they told me.
