Who is everyone?

From this link, The RCN agrees ? That the Remembrance needs a week now to be observed. This follows other pandering trends by all involved IMHO.

Good lord, a whole week of dredging up memories.  Remembrance Day gets emotionally tougher every year, make it a week and I am going to out to the deer camp for the week and doing my own service on 11AM of 11/11

I find it very interesting that this country treated veterans and serving members (more so serving members) with indifference, if not outright disdain for many years, but now that it's cool to be a veteran, a lot of folks want to "honour" us.  Some of it's nice (it's good to be appreciated), but I find some of it just a little too over the top.

There is no mention of veterans or serving members,

Remembrance Day observance
2. (1) Subject to subsection (2), at 11 a.m. on each Remembrance Day, the people of Ontario shall pause and observe two minutes of silence in honour of those who died serving their country in wars and in peacekeeping efforts.

A whole week of Peter Mansbridge pretending to give a shit after 51 weeks of gleefully pissing on all things military? Can't wait... ::)

From what I have read here, it seems to begin in late October,

When can poppies be worn daily?

As MM says, the new Ontario bill only establishes Remembrance Week in Ontario.  Federally, we get some confusion with making the run-up to Remembrance Day, which is about remembering THE FALLEN, Veterans' Week - this year is the 21st anniversary of Vets' Week.  #MixedMessaging

Aside from naming the week before Remembrance Day what is the issue?  We already start wearing poppies two weeks before and the TV is full of spots and commercials well before the day itself.

This is such a non issue and frankly a waste of legislative time as it changes absolutely nothing substantial, but whatever.

Minister of Veterans Affairs launches Veterans' Week at Senate Ceremony

Veterans’ Week is celebrated in Canada every year from November 5 to 11. The Government of Canada, as well as Veterans’ organizations, youth groups, and individuals throughout the country hold hundreds of commemorative ceremonies and events to honour Canada’s Veterans, still-serving Canadian Armed Forces personnel and RCMP, as well as to pay tribute to those who have fallen in the line of duty.

http://www.forces.gc.ca/en/honours-history-vet-week/index.page

Every year, Canadians remember and honour our Veterans – those who have made the ultimate sacrifice defending Canada's interests at home and abroad. November 5 to 11 marks Veterans' Week, with hundreds of ceremonies and events taking place across Canada.

Join us in honouring the achievements and sacrifices of all who have served Canada, as well as those who continue to serve in uniform today.

With all that money that VAC appears to be unable to spend, few good days of dog and pony shows put on by the well meaning folks should make VAC's books balance better.  Enjoy the money folks.

Veterans' Day Week?

OP: "happy veterans day to all our Canadian veterans!"

Where at the link does it indicate the RCN agrees?  Couldn't find it.  All I see is someone with access to the stone frigate site saying thank you and that members of the CAF were present when it was passed.

CountDC,

I think you missed the original question mark included in the quote. Access to the link is open to anyone who searches facebook, special access is not required.

Fair enough.
