Just wondering if anyone has used or is using the after-market C9 cloth ammo bags. I know they come in black and AUSCAM, and come in 50, 100 and 200 rd configurations.

I'm wanting to buy some but can't find them except for the odd one on Ebay.

Here they are common in 100rd only, but I have seen the odd 200rd types. Seems these are common on civvy street, as I have seen the 200rd AUSCAMs in gun magazines (SAR). This leads me to believe that the 200 rd'rs are being deleted out of the system.

Each Minimi here comes with 3 100rd canvas mags, sling, cleaning kit, spare bbl, and blank firing bbl, all in its plastic 'Trimcast' carrying box.

Cheers,

Wes

They are issue

The 200 in OD and the 100rd in Auscam...

I am sure units not yet issued could order them somehow

Hey Kevin, are the AUSCAM ones issed in the CF?? :o

Cheers,

Wes

we have some.

I think they where a stop gap for afghan - but they are still around (and in better shape than the OD versions - made better - go figure...)

We had to put an order out banning the 200 round soft bags as they caused too many stoppages, the belt is easily tangled in the bag no matter how much care and attention is given whenloading the bag.The 100 round bags are far superior.

A question for you guys in battalion, do you carry all of your C-9 ammo in soft bags, or just the one on the weapon? I hated those stupid plastic boxes on phase training...

Kevin,

Are you sure those weren't an operational purchase? If they are in the system does anyone have the stock number so I can talk my RQ into ordering some.

As far as buying privately, I have only ever seen them on Ebay, and they are few and far between. Has anyone seen them for sale here or in the US?

Wes, Do you know if you can buy those down under on civvy street?

Cheers

I must admit I am unsure about the how and why - DLR/CTS told us they would be widespread.

The OD 200rd ones are issued even non op - for reg inf - unsure about the scale in other units.

Admittedly the 100rds are as MG34 stated vastly superior

We only give the gunners 1 or 2 usually in Bn we don't have enough for 4-5 ea (of course we usually dont get that much ammo either - except operationally)

Try these NSNs for ordering AUSCAM Minimi canvas mags.

100rd'rs - 1005 66 140 5921
200rd'rs - 1005 66 140 5922

Cheers,

Wes

Thanks Wes, I take it those are Aussie numbers or are they NATO numbers?

Yes NATO STK No (NSN) mate, and the 100rd mag NSN should work, as we have NSNs with the 21 (Canada) designator for some Minimi stuff, and it works fo us. I can't see why Canada would have thie own NSN for something that already has one in the system.

If your 200 rd mag is OD, then the AUSCAM 200 rd mags might not be in your system.

The second group of two numbers in the NSN is the country designator. Examples, 21 Canada, 00 USA, 01 USA, 02 USA, 66 Australia, 99 UK, 13 Belgium, 12 Germany. Thats off the top of my head, as each NATO country has one. Hope I don't confuse ya.

Cheers,

Wes

The NSN is a NSN...  ;D

Wes's #'s are good.  The country of manufacture is the orignator of the country code - if other countries adopt that kit the # stays the same - it is only when mods are done (and dopted as such) than things start getting fuzzy.

Just checked the CGCM and unfortunately we don't have them but I'm sure you could have told me that.
