CEMS and anxiety

I just received a letter stating I don’t meet CEMS cause I haven’t been off anxiety meds for a full year. It’s been almost 7 months now. March will be a year and that’s when they asked me to update them and prove i’ve been able to stay med free with no follow up. I thought it was 6 months for anxiety meds? It says nothing about an appeal so it that even possible?

The medic who did my medical said he was going to recommend my file be approved and said he didn’t see my FDL i submitted for anxiety as an issue as i’ve been off it for 6 months. Why wouldn’t he just tell me it’s a year not 6 months if that is the case across the board? I never had any therapy session.. i never had follow up.. it wasn’t something i was dealing with since childhood. It was a 2 year period that I took meds.

Can someone offer any insight?

You took meds for anxiety and they only want you off them for a year and demonstrate you have no symptoms? My insight is that sounds like a good deal and you should be happy it's not a "don't apply again".

The CAF is a stressful place and they are protecting your mental health as much as protecting the efficiency of the Forces by having you wait.

Although I understand. I just thought it was 6 months to be off anxiety meds. This is what I was told. Is a year med free the cross the board rule for anxiety medication?

Also because the letter states nothing about an appeal, I assume this isn’t something that can be appealed? Looking for clarification.

The RMO makes the decision, the medic conducting the evaluation had the wrong dates. It happens.

I could be wrong, but this doesn't look like a rejection. It's an "continue where you left off" in March 2025. You wouldn't be able to appeal a cut and dry time-frame like that, it would be similar to fighting a speeding ticket by saying the speed limit should be 70kph not 60kph.

I’m trying to be positive and look at it like that. I guess I just have to “hurry up and wait” till march.

Because he isn't the one who makes that decision. The RMO, and only the RMO (sometimes with advice from specialist consultants), is the one who makes that decision based on an evaluation of the unique circumstances of each individual. There are very few "across the board" cases even if there are similarities among them.

So i guess they are asking for an updated letter from my Dr come March that i’ve been stable without follow up and posses no limitations?
