I served as a reservist for 3 years and then transfered to the reg force. I recently received 2 letters in the mail, one stating that I have the option to "buyback" Pensionable time and the other stating a "Top Up Election". First, what is the difference between the 2 options. Second, I tried several times to fill out the calculator online so that I could complete the CFSA 100, however; I am stuck and require assistance. Is there somewhere I can go where they can walk me through the process or at least explain to me what needs to be done.

Any direction would be appreciated guys.

IIRC, the online calculator hasn't worked for a long time, but I'm not sure if it ever got repaired.

Your best bet, is to take that form into your supporting Orderly Room and get them to help you with it.  The CFSA 100 is normally completed during your inclearances at your first Regular Force URS on component transfer.  The dates do not have to be "exact" and you can use "month and year" only if necessary.

Not sure what the difference is in the forms, as for Reg F, it is normally a straight up "buy back".  Top Ups are normally only for Res F members, who by reason of continuous employment, are transferred into the Reg F CFSA and are offered the opportunity to "top up" their prior Class A service pension time, I think.

Anyhow, your OR/URS is the best bet.
