Choosing your three trades.

Hi Everyone

I plan on filling out my application on Monday and submitting it.  It is Saturday now.  I have been reviewing trades.  There is several I am interested in, out of which according to the Forces.ca website only two of my interests are accepting applications.  My primary interest is Combat Engineer which is open,  secondary interest are three of the construction/electrical related tech spots all of which is closed, and a distance third the Medical Tech which is also accepting applications.

Out of curiosity.  Am I able to check off the trades I want on the recruiting forms and wait for it to open up or must I select presently open trades and I get what I get?  I would hate to be offered role that leaves me behind a desk and go out of my mind.  I have always done out side work in my civilian life and enjoyed it.  I would rather wait a year and be happy in my role than start tomorrow and be unhappy.

So don't apply for one.

Pretty simple. You can indicate up to 3 choices on the application. Don't want a trade ? Don't put it down on the form.

Trade is closed ? Well, write it down all you want, it's closed.

or must I select presently open trades and I get what I get

You won't be enrolled in a trade you do not want. You won't be offered what you did not apply for.
