The old "Canex Special" Daewoo finally gave up the ghost, and so I bought a new computer.  Suddenly, when I go to "Unread Post", it always shows no posts.  I am stilll running XP Pro - what has changed is that I now have Norton Internet Security 2005.  Is there a setting that I have to change?

Dave

I'm on Norton Internet Security 2005 and have never had this problem.

Do you have an external firewall of some sort?

No additional firewall - and i ate all of the cookies....

Dave

i think it is sorry sir you have to now visit all the old threads you once were part of and respin them all just like a spider

Once you go thought the link "Show unread posts since last visit" there is another link to "All Unread Topics"  This will bring up all the topics that you have never read.

You can use this feature to create your own "unread since last visit list" by using the "mark as read" button before each time you leaving the site.

Okay Dave, I can't resist, everyone knows that an old infanteer like you can't even find the power button on a computer, let alone try to use one.  Who are you trying to kid? :D
Cheers Brian

Dave,

Your old cookies, which stored the date/time of your last visit, were on your old computer, and so you're basically starting again on your new one. (All the "important" data is stored in a database on the server, but some of the info used to determine posts since last visit are in cookies on your local system).

The good news is that it'll start to go back to normal after you've used the new system for a bit.

Cheers
Mike
