Hello,

let me first of apologize in case this has been discussed in a previous board. I tried searching the archives and couldn't get anywhere.

Now down to business..

I would like to join the regular military as a DEO. Currently I am in school for mechanical engineering, and upon graduation would like to work as an aeronautical engineer in the CAF. However the degree I am pursuing is my 2nd degree. I already have a degree in business, but have decided that I such a career isn't what I would like to do for the rest of my life. Be that as it may, could I join the military as a DEO reservist while I finish school?

Thanks for any feedback in advance

Business degree doesn't exactly relate to aeronautical engineering. Have you talked with the recruiting centre about ROTP?

You can join the reserves as a DEO, then component transfer to reg force.

You should really talk with a recruiter.

You can join the Reserves as a DEO if they accept you as such after going through their selection process.  There are no guarantees, especially in units that have a large number MCpls and Snr NCO's who hold Masters Degrees, and would like to promote from within.

To be honest; there is no shame to join the Reserves as a Private and 'learn the ropes' before deciding on becoming an officer.

Thanks for the advice guys,

I'll talk to the recruiting officer about the ROTP.
