A couple years ago, when the CF executed a huge recruit intake the numbers were too large for the Recruit School in St Jean, PQ, to handle them all. That year, a number of other establishments across the country were tasked to set up and run recruit companies to process that massive intake. (Since then, many of those recruits have sat in backlogged PAT (personnel awaiting training) groups because the schools that do the follow-on trades training were not equipped to deal with the increase.) With recruiting back to a ‘normal‘ level, the Recruit School in St Jean can now handle the flow and all recruits will start there for the Basic Military Qualification (BMQ) course.

Added note: St Jean is the Recruit School for Regular Force candidates. Reservists will normally conduct their BMQ course at their home garrison with their parent unit/brigade.
