A dumb question:

Since Fd Engrs have been superceded by Cbt Engrs, are the names of the Field Engineer Regiments going to change? 8 FER = 8 CER?

Enlighten me please.

2 FER = 2 CER?  D'oh!

The regular force is not renaming the Fd Sqns as Cbt Sqns and I don't see a need for the reserves to rename thier units.  In fact doing so would disassociate the units from thier history (as the title FER existed long before the title CER, and all of today's regular CERs were spawn from squadrons of 1 FER).

Makes sense. So naturally they'll change them.

Make the two units wrestle to see who gets the "2 CER" ;D

2 FER has a longer historical claim to the number 2 (as that was the number of the Toronto militia district even before the first world war and it was the number attached to the Toronto based engineer unit).  It would be intresting to be a fly on the wall if that bun fight ever came around.

I was told by a Capt. of my unit that IF this were ever to happen, it would follow 31CER's example.  Using the brigade # then CER.
