what do you guys eat in the field?
IMPs right?

How do you (do you) heat your meals?
There are those MRE heating things, flameless ration heaters. Something like that?

Where can I purchase your heating method? (preferably in the GTA if you know of somewhere)

Instant Meal Packets - IMPS‘ yes...

How do we heat them? Well if we have the luxury of warming them; we have small pressure cookers that we heat on our coleman stoves. You can cook like 6 or 7 in one of these. Or we do have the fuel tablets that we light under our metal canteen cups (filled with water, and IMP packets inside).

You can pick up the IMPs, the pressure cooker, and a better stove then the coleman stove, at a store called Mountain Equipment Co-op.
Actually the IMPs from there are not as good as the ones issued, but the pressure cooker and the stove are there and are just as good.

Fresh rations are also prepared in field kitchens by Service Battalion personnel; I should imagine that in a "real war" this would be the preferred method of feeding troops - the IMP concept is great but they are really supposed to be emergency rations. Field kitchens are obviously not possible in mobile operations (hills of Afghanistan for example) and I believe the CAR was on IMPs for their stay in Somalia?

There are also "patrol rations" which are issued on occasion - they come in a nifty green package and consist of things like dried cheese, beef jerky, etc. and are for eating in combat conditions - no heating expected.
