Sorry for the "half" hijack, but I have a question for you edge (and anyone else here) - I don't have any of the mags you are seeking, but I do have war magazines from the late 30's early 40's (half decent condition) Do you collect military magazines or just the Sentinel?

Hi! , I only collect C.A.F. Sentinel Magazine and R.C.N. Crowsnest magazine Thanks for the interest , Edge

Think I still have a couple of old SENTINEL copies stuck in a binding case.....
Definitively have the 76 Olympic issue....will have to check what else I have .... stand by!

Edge,

I'm also a Sentinel collector, along with Canadian Army Journal (the original one), Crowsnest and Roundel.

Unfortunately I don't have the specific Sentinel magazines you were looking for, but I have duplicates of other editions.  I myself am trying to track down some missing issues from the 60's and 70's including the first two, which were published in 1965.

You can pm me off-line if you're interested in doing some trading.

Dan.

Hi! , I only have a few extra Sentinels from the 60 's / 70's , Namely:
Oct. 1966 Vol. 2 # 8----Jan.1967 Vol. 3 # 1 ----June 1972 Vol.8 #6 ----Oct. 1972 Vol. 8 # 9 ----Jan.1973 Vol. 9 #1----.  You mentioned CROWSNEST magazine, are you talking about the Royal Canadian Navy magazine CROWSNEST?  If so I do have many extra Vols./Issues of this magazine.  I also have a source for obtaining other Vols./Issues of Sentinel. If you send me the ones you are searching for I will see if I can obtain them at a reasonable price. There is a Bookseller who has some of these magazines but at such unreasonable cost I'm afraid they are far out of my reach. Just for an example he has some advertised at upwards of $52.00 US funds per Issue. If you do not believe this I will attach one of his print outs later on.  Over to you, An old sailor,Edge  *  PS  List the extra sentinels you have please.

Edge,

Sorry for the delay.  I've gone through my stacks and I have double copies of the following;

Sept 1966,
June 1967,
Jul-Aug 1968,
Jan 1971,
Feb-Mar 1971,
June 1971,
June 1972,
1979/1 and
1986/6.

I'm afraid my duplicates of June 1967 and Jul-Aug 1968 don't have covers and are a little rough, but completely legible.

I'm looking for a lot but will list only a few that I need for now;

Nov and Dec 1965,
May, Jun and Nov-Dec 1966,
Jan and Nov-Dec 1967,
Feb, Apr and Oct 1968, and
Jan 1970.

If I can't get the originals I'll gladly take photo-copies.  You mentioned you had Jan 1967 (which I need).  Where are you located?

Dan.

PS.  Yes, I meant the former RCN magazine CROWSNEST.

I am also looking for the '76 Olympic issue of the Sentinel. I missed it when it came out. I found out a little while ago from an old pal that I was on the cover driving a jeep and I would like to get it. I am interested in any of the editions from 73 to 78 but special interest in that one because I'm told I'm  "On the Cover of the Sentinel" I gotta have that one.

If anyone wants to sell please email me. [email protected]

I have issues of the Sentinel dating from the 60's, 70's 80's and 90's for sale or trade. I am interested in acquiring Canadian army / airforce patches, titles etc. Message me if interested.
I have a few issues of Roundel.
(Sorry I don't have the 76 Olympic issue.)

Don't have any for sale, but I do know that the Atomic Museum in Vegas has a copy of the one dealing with the Soviet satellite that came down in the arctic.

Sergeant Fred Stratton,

I've posted the cover of the 1976 Montreal Olympics issue of Sentinel with your picture on the cover.  It's up near the top.

There is another photograph of you and Ray MacIntyre inside on page 22.  It's a part of the article on Task Force 2 (security at Dorval and Mirabel airports) which was built around 1 RCR and 8CH.

Unfortunately my copy isn't for sale.  I hope this helps.  You might try a PM to a member named Edge on this site.  He deals in Sentinel magazines too.

Cheers,
Dan.

Thank you Exspy:
I heard about this and now I know it's true. I am on the search even more now.

We were on the air side escorting the jets down the runway and taxiway then keeping watch on the tarmac. I'm looking forward to finding a copy.

I really appreciate you posting this. You'd think I just had a kid. I can't get the smile off my face. :)

My dad is retired now but he asked if I could try and track down on the internet a copy of the picture he was in and/or article in the Sentinel.  He was an engineer back then.  The picture was taken in either 74/75/76.  His name is Bernie Paris.  Pretty vague I know.  But its worth a shot right!

Thanks in advance!

Rebecca

Rebecca, I have a complete set of all Sentinels so should be able to find the picture/article you want. I would need a bit more info before I start my search. Navy ,Army or Airforce? Description of what is happening when photo/article is captured . Any other info you can provide.  Thanks, Walter

Hello,

I spoke to my dad (Bernie Paris).  He said his memory is going...lol  He can't remember if it was the summer of 74 or 75.  He was army and he (engineers) were building a road or bridge in the picture.  Thank you very much, I hope that is enough information and that you don't spend too much time looking.

Cheers!

Rebecca

Don,

I have a copy, however I am not willing to part with it as of yet.  On the other hand if you want an article copied I would be more than happy to provide it.  Is there anything specific that you're after?

Cheers,
Dan.
