Now, we all make mistakes, but from the cbc.ca site today, the following caption to a satellite photo of southern Afghanistan:
"A NASA/MODIS satellite image of the rugged country in southern Afghanistan where Canadain troops are operating. "

source: http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/afghanistan/canada.html dated 22 May at 12:15 pm ADT.

Enjoy! :D

Funny?  Possibly because people are paid to edit for mistakes like typos and the lot...

HL

funny, because it unintentionally highlights our point, wherein we often state that the CBC doesn't check its' facts or stories when reporting on the CF.

Look at the bright side, they got all the other words right.      ;)

Funny, because it is your tax dollars at work effectively.

I wonder about that.  Its possible that the website's budget comes from Newsworld's budget which is funded privately and not from taxes.

As for the other stuff.  It wasn't a journalist who put it on the web, it was probably some low level computer guy.  And its a typo.  There are many worse things out there than that.  Have you ever watched CNN or CTV Newsnet and hell even FoxNews?  Watch the ticker at the bottom, from time to time you'll see typos.

And this has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with that.  This is a simple typo.  Not a mistake by journalists.  If it really bothers you, perhaps you should send a letter to the CBC complaining about how their bias forced them to spell Canada wrong.

Sheesh.. take a chill pill there Sheerin. Everyone's just having some fun, no harm done. You're the only one getting bent about this.

I'm not really getting bent out of shape, its just there are so many other things that are funny, this isn't one of them.

Printed on the Canadian Broadcast Corporation's website.

it doesn't bother anyone but you, apparently. Others find it a giggle. You don't. Fine. Don't follow the thread, anymore.

Others have pointed out why it amuses them, I gave the reason it amused me.

After all the motto of the CBC is Never Pass a Fualt.

You can pass if you turn you head the other way  ;D
