With the new technology always being invented, will forward observer’s job not be needed anymore?
(I’m talking 10-20 years from now)

No. The process of employing artillery is already well within the capability of many players within the battlefield at a basic level. At the most basic level, the benefit of a FOO party is the technical and tactical advice on the integration of not only indirect fire but also close air support as part of the combat team. Baring advancements in AI, having the ability to provide advice to an infantry or armour OC is to synchronize effects is not something that is likely to be solved anytime soon.

In all likelihood the job will become even more complex and necessary as more and more diverse fires delivery systems come on line.
