Get me up to speed

So I’ve been enrolled (PRes Inf) for a couple of weeks now, about to get my kit ahead training night this week, but last week they had me jump right in on an exercise (great!) in my civvies (feel like a goober!) and that combined with still not knowing anything about saluting, standing at attention, stomping at certain room thresholds (what is the stomp even called?), how to refer to people, etc etc just makes me really want to quickly get up to speed so I’m not so painfully, obviously ignorant about the etiquette and everything. The guys at the unit have been great so far, but they’ve got more than just me going on to worry about, so hit me with your top tips for at least looking the part while I start learning everything else. Thanks guys!

There's a whole course to get you up to speed. Be a sponge and retain what people teach you. You'll be fine.
Would that be at BMQ?- because I’m months away from doing that (full time in summer most likely). I know nobody’s expecting me to know anything yet, I just don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb so bad lol. Definitely sponging it up already, just impatient I guess

PuckChaser summed it up well: listen, watch, learn. If they're letting you participate a bit, this is a good chance to "pre-learn".

And don't worry - on your recruit training, you won't be the only one sticking out like a sore thumb :)

Good luck!
