I want to join the infantry when I'm done all my schooling, so I have been doing research on it and I think I can get through bmq however looking at dp1 has me pretty worried so I have some questions

  1. How long is it (I have seen conflicting answers)
  2. How to get through the sleep deprivation
  3. i have read about exams, what are they like
  4. How much free time (stupid question I know)
  5. I'm someone who gets exhausted from school, so how do I get through this?
  6. And how to get through stress if it's something I already struggle with thanks for any help provided

Course length and contents depend on whether you go regular force or reserve, and officer or non commissioned member.

Get comfortable being uncomfortable.

Embrace the suck because without it further progression is impossible.

And ask to join the PPCLI ;)

For the next 2 weeks wake up at 5 am and go workout for an hour.
Eat half of what you normally eat and don't snack.
Go to bed at 11pm or 1130pm every night.

If you survive then you'll be fine.
Pretty much what I do daily. Except every second week I don't do PT before work but after.

Except for the snacking and eating part - that is never cut in half.

Is that what most people mean when they talk about the stress of it or is there other stuff?

There's lots of other stuff. You basically get stressed out and treated like shit for a few weeks/months. Some people can't handle it.

One of the major issues is people in your shoes psyching themselves out or getting worked up about loosing sleep or being yelled at or lack of food. They start dwelling on all the "what if's". People go into it thinking and fearing the worst.

If you want to join the military you just need to do it.

So in all likely hood it's not going to be as bad I think?
Also I know I have asked this but what stresses people out specifically?
