Hello,

Thanks in advance to all those who help,

I have been searching this forum to answer my questions but could not find a clear cut answer, the search function seems to be broken but have had some luck with google search.

My question is regarding the Infantry Officer Trade,
After your initial training (BMOQ, DP1.1, DP 1.2), when you are trade qualified and posted to a battalion,
how much stability would you have in regards to family life, how much are you expected to be away in the initial stages from family every year.

I am not an infantry officer, but this thread offers some perspectives on life in a unit as a junior officer.

Life in the CAF (Infantry DEO)

Everyone's experience is going to differ, but as a new officer in a unit you will likely be away from home for weeks at a time several times a year. How much will depend on where your unit is in the managed readiness plan. If you arrive in a Build Year, you might be away quite a bit on training before then deploying for six months (or longer) in the following deployment year.

And then there are the regular 'Duty Officer' assignments in garrison... and extra duties too, of course ;)
