Hi all !

I am about to start my training in the medical field (MedTech, 737 or 00334) and would like some "vets" to help me out figure a few things.

I received different informations from recruiting officers and veterans about the pay amount for medical technicians. In addition to the "normal" pay for medics, I would like to know after what amount of class you get to different wages (different from the "recruit" status). Some told me after Borden, others after my 18 months of "upkeep" courses.

Also, I would like to know if its true that MedTech get a "specialist" class wage, some told me yes, some told me no.. its getting confusing. Of course, I did not choose this job for the money, but still, I would like to be able to figure out a approximative amount, wich is quite impossible at the moment since I get so many different infos.

Thanks for the help !

We get paid the same rate of pay as the majority of the CF. Regular table same as Cbt arms, and most of the CF.

We don't get spec pay.

Go here http://www.forces.gc.ca/dgcb/dppd/engraph/download_e.asp?sidesection=4&docid=1 and download the MS Excel spreadsheet to see which NCM occupations get spec pay.

Hmmm.. thanks for the infos folks. Guess that the recruiting office gave me some real Bullcrap about that specialist wage (yes, a recruiter told me so)

Anyway, I didnt choose this job for the money,I applied mainly to learn and help ppl, so it won't stop me from keeping on what I already started !  :salute:

Thanks again, might see ya in a few years !  ;)

Well if youdownload the file you will see there are a few Medical trades that have spec pay, but those are trades you have to transfer from Med Tech after you have been a Med Tech for a few years.  So that recruiting office wasn't feeding you complete BS.

When you become a Physician Assistant, you get specialist pay, as do the Preventative Medicine Techs at the senior level (Sgt and above).  So techinically, he told you an untruth, not a total lie.
